DESCRIPTION

The front floor side airbag sensor LH or RH consists of a lateral deceleration sensor, etc.

If the airbag sensor assembly receives signals from the lateral deceleration sensor, it determines whether the SRS should be activated.

DTC B162A/2A or B163A/3A is stored when a malfunction is detected in the front floor side airbag sensor LH or RH circuit.

Note


  • After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK DTC


    1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    2. Clear the DTCs stored in memory.

      Click here


      Body Electrical > SRS Airbag > Clear DTCs

    3. Turn the ignition switch off.

    4. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

    5. Check for DTCs.

      Proceed to
      DTC B163A/3A is output
      DTC B162A/2A is output
      DTC B162A/2A and B163A/3A are not output

  2. CHECK FRONT FLOOR SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR LH


    1. B002597C47
      *1 Front Floor Side Airbag Sensor RH
      *2 Airbag Sensor Assembly

      Turn the ignition switch off.

    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

    3. Interchange the front floor side airbag sensor LH with RH and connect the connectors to them.

    4. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.

    5. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

    6. Clear the DTCs stored in memory.

    7. Turn the ignition switch off.

    8. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

    9. Check for DTCs.

      DTC B163A/3A is output
      DTC B162A/2A and B163A/3A are not output

      Tech Tips

    10. Turn the ignition switch off.

    11. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

    12. Return the front floor side airbag sensor RH and LH to their original positions and connect the connectors to them.

  3. CHECK FRONT FLOOR SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR RH

      Turn the ignition switch off.

    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

    3. Interchange the front floor side airbag sensor RH with LH and connect the connectors to them.

    4. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.

    5. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

    6. Clear the DTCs stored in memory.

    7. Turn the ignition switch off.
