B1650/32 Occupant Classification System Malfunction

DESCRIPTION

The occupant classification system circuit consists of the airbag sensor assembly and occupant detection ECU.

If the airbag sensor assembly receives signals from the occupant detection ECU, it determines whether the instrument panel passenger airbag, front seat airbag LH*1/RH*2 and front seat outer belt assembly should be operated.

DTC B1650/32 is stored when a malfunction is detected in the occupant classification system circuit.

  • An occupant classification system malfunction.

  • The airbag sensor assembly detects a line short circuit signal, open circuit signal, short circuit to ground signal or short circuit to B+ signal in the occupant classification system circuit for 2 seconds.

  • An airbag sensor assembly malfunction.


  • Floor wire

Note


  • After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK DTC


    1. Turn the ignition switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.

    2. Clear the DTCs.

      Click here


      Body Electrical > Occupant Detection > Clear DTCs

      Tech Tips


      • First clear the DTCs stored in the occupant detection ECU, and then clear the DTCs stored in the airbag sensor assembly.

      • Use the GTS to clear the DTCs of the occupant detection ECU, otherwise the DTCs cannot be cleared.

    3. Turn the ignition switch off.

    4. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

    5. Check for DTCs of the occupant detection ECU.

  2. CHECK DTC

  3. CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTORS


    1. Turn the ignition switch off.

    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

    3. Check that the connectors are properly connected to the airbag sensor assembly and occupant detection ECU.

      Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Do not forcibly insert the service wire into the terminals of the connector.

    7. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
