REAR SHOCK ABSORBER(for 4WD and Pre-Runner) INSTALLATION

Tech Tips


  • Use the same procedure for the RH and LH sides.

  • The RH side rear shock absorber assembly RH lower protector should face to the front side.

  • The procedure listed below is for the LH side.

PROCEDURE


  1. TEMPORARILY INSTALL REAR SHOCK ABSORBER ASSEMBLY LH

    1. Install the 2 rear No. 1 shock absorber cushion washers to the axle housing.

    2. Install 4 new rear shock absorber bushes to the rear shock absorber assembly LH.

    3. Install the rear shock absorber assembly LH and 4 rear shock absorber bushes to the axle housing and frame.

    4. Install the 2 rear No. 2 shock absorber cushion washers.

    5. Temporarily install the 2 bolts.

  2. INSTALL REAR WHEEL

  3. STABILIZE SUSPENSION


    1. Lower the vehicle.

    2. Press down on the vehicle several times to stabilize the suspension.

  4. TIGHTEN REAR SHOCK ABSORBER ASSEMBLY LH


    1. Tighten the 2 bolts.

      Torque:
      105 N*m  { 1071 kgf*cm, 77 ft.*lbf }

  5. PERFORM INITIALIZATION (w/ Automatic Headlight Beam Level Control System)
