Use the same procedure for the RH and LH sides.
The procedure listed below is for the LH side.
PROCEDURE
CHECK BRAKE SHOE LINING THICKNESS
Remove the shoe inspection hole plug, and check the brake shoe lining thickness through the hole.

If the thickness is less than the minimum, replace the brake shoe.
REMOVE REAR WHEEL
DRAIN BRAKE FLUID
Wash off brake fluid immediately if it comes in contact with any painted surface.
REMOVE REAR BRAKE DRUM SUB-ASSEMBLY
Release the parking brake lever, and remove the rear brake drum sub-assembly and brake drum gasket.
If the rear brake drum sub-assembly cannot be removed easily, perform the following procedures.

Remove the shoe adjusting hole plug and insert a screwdriver into the hole on the backing plate, and hold the automatic adjust lever away from the adjuster.
Using another screwdriver, compress the brake shoe adjuster by turning the adjusting wheel.
