REAR BRAKE(for TMT Made 4WD and Pre-Runner) DISASSEMBLY

  • Use the same procedure for the RH and LH sides.

  • The procedure listed below is for the LH side.

PROCEDURE


  1. REMOVE REAR BRAKE AUTOMATIC ADJUST LEVER LH


    1. A01LC7N

      Using needle-nose pliers, remove the rear brake automatic adjust lever tension spring and rear brake automatic adjust lever LH.

  2. REMOVE BRAKE SHOES


    1. A01LE5W

      Using pliers, remove the 2 shoe hold down springs, 2 pins, front brake shoe and rear brake shoe.

    2. A01LEIR

      Push the front or rear side of the rear wheel brake cylinder assembly LH with the brake shoe. Then remove the side of the brake shoe opposite to the side of the cylinder being pushed. Finally, remove the remaining side of the brake shoe.

      Note

      Be careful not to damage the rear wheel cylinder dust boot.

    3. A01LCLJ

      Move one of the shoes downward and remove the shoe tension spring.

    4. A01LCMG

      Remove the front brake shoe and rear brake shoe.

    5. Remove the parking brake shoe strut set LH and parking brake shoe return spring from the brake shoes.

    6. Remove the support clip from the parking brake shoe strut set LH and parking brake shoe return spring.

      Using needle-nose pliers, disconnect the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly from the rear brake parking brake shoe lever sub-assembly.

  3. REMOVE REAR BRAKE PARKING BRAKE SHOE LEVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

      Remove the C-washer and rear brake parking brake shoe lever sub-assembly.

  4. REMOVE REAR WHEEL BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY LH


    1. A01SCP5

      Using a union nut wrench, disconnect the brake line from the rear brake wheel cylinder assembly LH.

    2. Remove the 2 bolts and rear brake wheel cylinder assembly LH from the backing plate.

  5. REMOVE REAR BRAKE DRUM BLEEDER PLUG CAP

  6. REMOVE REAR BRAKE DRUM BLEEDER PLUG


    1. Remove the rear brake drum bleeder plug from the rear wheel brake cylinder assembly LH.

  7. REMOVE REAR WHEEL CYLINDER KIT


    1. Remove the 2 rear wheel cylinder dust boots from the rear wheel brake cylinder assembly LH.

    2. Remove the 2 rear wheel cylinder pistons.

    3. Remove the rear wheel cylinder cup from each wheel cylinder piston.

    4. Remove the rear brake wheel cylinder compression spring from the rear brake wheel cylinder assembly LH.
