BRAKE BOOSTER(w/ ABS) REMOVAL

Tech Tips


  • Use the same procedure for RHD and LHD vehicles.

  • The procedure listed below is for LHD vehicles.

Note

Make sure to release the vacuum from the brake booster before removing the brake master cylinder sub-assembly from the brake booster assembly.

PROCEDURE


  1. DRAIN BRAKE FLUID

    Note

    Wash off brake fluid immediately if it comes in contact with any painted surface.

  2. REMOVE BRAKE PEDAL RETURN SPRING

  3. REMOVE PUSH ROD PIN

  4. REMOVE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER PUSH ROD CLEVIS


    1. Loosen the push rod clevis lock nut.

    2. Remove the brake master cylinder push rod clevis.

  5. DISCONNECT VACUUM HOSE


    1. except 1TR-FE, 2TR-FE:

      Slide the clip and disconnect the vacuum hose from the brake vacuum check valve assembly.

    2. for 1TR-FE, 2TR-FE:

      Slide the clip and disconnect the 2 vacuum hoses from each brake vacuum check valve assembly.

  6. REMOVE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER SUB-ASSEMBLY

  7. REMOVE BRAKE BOOSTER ASSEMBLY


    1. for Diesel:


      1. Remove the brake vacuum check valve assembly from the brake booster assembly.

      2. Remove the vacuum warning switch assembly from the brake booster assembly.

      3. Remove the 2 grommets from the brake booster assembly.

    2. for 1TR-FE, 2TR-FE:


      1. Remove the 2 brake vacuum check valve assemblies from the brake booster assembly.

      2. Remove the 2 grommets from the brake booster assembly.

    3. for 1GR-FE:


      1. Remove the brake vacuum check valve assembly and grommet from the brake booster assembly.

    4. B0028US

      Remove the 4 nuts.

    5. Pull out the brake booster assembly with the brake booster gasket.

      Note

      Do not damage the brake lines.

  8. REMOVE BRAKE BOOSTER GASKET
