REAR CRANKSHAFT OIL SEAL INSTALLATION

PROCEDURE


  1. INSTALL REAR CRANKSHAFT OIL SEAL


    1. Apply MP grease to the lip of a new rear crankshaft oil seal.

    2. A01SASPC03
      *a -0.5 (-0.0197 in.) to 0.5 mm (0.0197 in.)

      Using SST and a hammer, tap in the rear crankshaft oil seal until its surface is flush with the rear oil seal retainer edge.

      -0.5 (-0.0197 in.) to 0.5 mm (0.0197 in.) (from the rear oil seal retainer edge)

      Note


      • Keep the lip of the rear crankshaft oil seal free from foreign matter.

      • Do not tap the rear crankshaft oil seal at an angle.

  2. INSTALL DRIVE PLATE AND RING GEAR SUB-ASSEMBLY

      Using SST, hold the crankshaft.

      *1 Front Drive Plate Spacer
      *2 Drive Plate and Ring Gear Sub-assembly
      *3 Rear Drive Plate Spacer
      *a Automatic Transmission Side

      Install the front drive plate spacer, the drive plate and ring gear sub-assembly, and the rear drive plate spacer to the crankshaft.

      Tech Tips

      As the front drive plate spacer, the drive plate and ring gear sub-assembly, and the rear drive plate spacer are not reversible, be sure to install them in the direction shown in the illustration.

    3. Clean the bolts and bolt holes.

      Apply a few drops of adhesive to 2 or 3 threads at the tip of each of the 8 bolts.

      Adhesive
      Toyota Genuine Adhesive 1324, Three Bond 1324 or equivalent
    5. A01SDSON01

      Install and uniformly tighten the 8 bolts in several steps in the sequence shown in the illustration.

      Torque:
      83 N*m  { 846 kgf*cm, 61 ft.*lbf }

      Note

      Do not start the engine for at least 1 hour after installing the drive plate.
