PROCEDURE
INSPECT INTAKE MASS AIR FLOW METER SUB-ASSEMBLY
Read the value using the GTS (MAF).
Note
Perform the inspection of the intake mass air flow meter sub-assembly while it is installed to the air cleaner cap sub-assembly (installed to the vehicle).
Connect the GTS to the DLC3.
Start the engine.
Turn the GTS on.
Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Data List / MAF.
| Tester Display |

w/ Urea SCR System:
If the result is not as specified, replace the intake mass air flow meter sub-assembly.
If the result is within the specified range, inspect the intake mass air flow meter sub-assembly.
CLEAN INTAKE MASS AIR FLOW METER SUB-ASSEMBLY
Note
Do not loose a screw for fixing intake air flow meter sub-assembly. The resin of air cleaner cap sub-assembly would be damaged by repetition of fasten and loose more than 10 times.
Detach the 4 clips and disconnect the air cleaner cap sub-assembly.
Remove the air cleaner filter element sub-assembly.
Perform air blowing:
| *a | Intermittently |
| *b | 3 to 6 seconds |
| *c | 1 second |
| *d | On |
| *e | Off |
Intermittently air blow the intake air flow meter sub-assembly entrance hole with a pressure of approximately 392 to 981 kPa (4.0 to 10.0 kgf/cm2, 57 to 142 psi) more than 10 times over 30 seconds or more.
Note
Do not touch the tip of the air gun nozzle to the air flow meter, and do not insert the tip of the air gun nozzle into the air flow meter entrance hole.
| *a | Intake Air Flow Meter Sub-assembly |
| *b | Air Gun |
| *c | 0 to 30 mm (0 to 1.18 in.) |
Install the air cleaner filter element sub-assembly.
Attach the 4 clips and connect the air cleaner cap sub-assembly.
