| DTC Code | DTC Name |
|---|---|
| P2226 | Barometric Pressure Circuit |
| P2228 | Barometric Pressure Circuit Low Input |
| P2229 | Barometric Pressure Circuit High Input |
DESCRIPTION
To detect atmospheric pressure, the built-in atmospheric pressure sensor in the ECM is used. Using the atmospheric pressure, the ECM corrects the injection volume, timing and duration, and adjusts the common rail internal fuel pressure in order to optimize engine combustion.
| DTC No. | Detection Item | DTC Detection Condition | Trouble Area | MIL | Memory |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| P2226 | Barometric Pressure Circuit | Atmospheric pressure sensor voltage is 1.4 V or less, or 4.0 V or higher for 0.5 seconds (1 trip detection logic). | ECM | Comes on | DTC stored |
| P2228 | Barometric Pressure Circuit Low Input | Atmospheric pressure sensor voltage is 1.4 V or less for 0.5 seconds (1 trip detection logic). | ECM | Comes on | DTC stored |
| P2229 | Barometric Pressure Circuit High Input | Atmospheric pressure sensor voltage is 4.0 V or higher for 0.5 seconds (1 trip detection logic). | ECM | Comes on | DTC stored |

Tech Tips
When the ignition switch is ON, the intake manifold pressure, "MAP", is approximately equal to atmospheric pressure.
Under standard atmospheric pressure conditions, the output of the atmospheric pressure sensor is 101 kPa. For every 100 m increase in elevation, pressure drops by 1 kPa. This varies by weather (high atmospheric pressure, low atmospheric pressure).
If DTC P2226, P2228 and/or P2229 is stored, the following symptoms may appear:
Misfire
Combustion noise
Black smoke
White smoke
CONFIRMATION DRIVING PATTERN

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT
Note
After replacing the ECM, the new ECM needs registration (Click here ) and initialization Click here.
Tech Tips
Read freeze frame data using the GTS. Freeze frame data records the engine condition when malfunctions are detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.
PROCEDURE
REPLACE ECM
Replace the ECM.

CONFIRM WHETHER MALFUNCTION HAS BEEN SUCCESSFULLY REPAIRED
Connect the GTS to the DLC3.
Turn the ignition switch to ON.
Turn the GTS on.
Clear the DTCs.
Turn the ignition switch off and wait for 30 seconds.
Turn the ignition switch to ON and wait for 1 second or more.
Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes.
Confirm that the DTC is not output again.
