P0106 Manifold Absolute Pressure Circuit Problem

Either condition is met (2 trip detection logic):


  • The manifold absolute pressure sensor output is 2.5 V or higher for 10 seconds when idling the engine after warming it up.

  • The manifold absolute pressure sensor output is 0.25 V or less for 10 seconds when the accelerator opening amount is 15% or more.

  • Vacuum hose connection

  • Manifold absolute pressure sensor

Tip:

  • If DTC P0106 is stored, the following symptoms may appear:


    • Misfire

    • Combustion noise

    • Black smoke

    • White smoke

    • Lack of power

Tip:

Read freeze frame data using the GTS. Freeze frame data records the engine condition when malfunctions are detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.

PROCEDURE


  1. Click here

    CHECK OTHER DTC OUTPUT (IN ADDITION TO DTC P0106)


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the GTS on.

    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes.

    4. Read the DTCs.


      1. Powertrain > Engine > Trouble Codes


      Result

      DTC P0106 is output A
      DTC P0106 and other DTCs are output B

  2. Click here

    CHECK VACUUM HOSE CONNECTIONS


    1. Check the vacuum hose connections.

      OK
      Vacuum hose is connected correctly and is not damaged.
      Result

      NG

  3. Click here

    REPLACE MANIFOLD ABSOLUTE PRESSURE SENSOR


    1. Replace the manifold absolute pressure sensor.

  4. Click here

    CONFIRM WHETHER MALFUNCTION HAS BEEN SUCCESSFULLY REPAIRED


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Clear the DTCs.


      1. Powertrain > Engine > Clear DTCs


    3. Turn the ignition switch off for 30 seconds or more.

    4. Start the engine.

    5. After warming up the engine, idle the engine for 10 seconds or more, and then drive the vehicle under load (accelerator opening angle 15% or more) for 10 seconds or more.

    6. Confirm that the pending DTC is not output again.

      Tip:

      Perform the following procedure using the GTS to determine whether or not the DTC judgment has been carried out.


      1. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Utility / All Readiness.


        1. Powertrain > Engine > Utility
          Tester Display
          All Readiness




      2. Input DTC P0106.

      3. Check that STATUS is NORMAL. If STATUS is INCOMPLETE or N/A, drive the vehicle for 5 minutes, idle the engine for 5 minutes, and then check "All Readiness" again.
