MANIFOLD ABSOLUTE PRESSURE SENSOR ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

PROCEDURE

1. INSPECT DIESEL TURBO PRESSURE SENSOR

   
   
   1. 

      *a	Front view of wire harness connector (to Diesel Turbo Pressure Sensor)

      Inspect the power source voltage.

      
      

      1. Disconnect the diesel turbo pressure sensor connector.

      2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

      3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

         Standard Voltage
         Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition 3 (VC) - 1 (E) Ignition switch ON 4.75 to 5.25 V

      4. Turn the ignition switch off.

      5. Connect the diesel turbo pressure sensor connector.

      6. Clear the DTCs.

   2. Inspect the diesel turbo pressure sensor.

      
      

      1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

      2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

      3. Turn the GTS on.

      4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Data List / Atmosphere Pressure and MAP.

         
         Powertrain > Engine > Data List

         Tester Display
         Atmosphere Pressure
         MAP

      5. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the diesel turbo pressure sensor.

      6. 

         *a	Vacuum Pump

         Using SST, apply pressure to the diesel turbo pressure sensor.

      7. Using a vacuum pump, apply vacuum to the diesel turbo pressure sensor.

      8. Read the value.

         OK
         Condition MAP Value No pressure applied Same as atmospheric pressure Pressure applied Indicates pressure Vacuum applied Indicates vacuum

         If the result is not as specified, replace the diesel turbo pressure sensor or ECM.
