MANIFOLD ABSOLUTE PRESSURE SENSOR ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

PROCEDURE


  1. INSPECT MANIFOLD ABSOLUTE PRESSURE SENSOR


    1. Check the terminal voltage.


      1. Disconnect the connector from the manifold absolute pressure sensor.

      2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

        Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Voltage
        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        C89-3 (VC) - C89-1 (E) Ignition switch ON 4.75 to 5.25 V
        C89-2 (PIM) - C89-1 (E) Ignition switch ON 3.0 to 5.0 V

        If the result is not as specified, inspect the wire harness or ECM.

      4. Connect the connector to the manifold absolute pressure sensor.

    2. Check the intake manifold pressure.


      1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

      2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

      3. Turn the GTS on.

      4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List / MAP.


        Powertrain > Engine > Data List
        Tester Display
        MAP
      5. Read the values displayed on the GTS.

        OK
        Equivalent to atmospheric pressure.

        Tech Tips


        • Standard atmospheric pressure is 101 kPa (abs) [758 mmHg (abs)].

        • For every 100 m (328 ft.) increase in altitude, pressure drops by 1 kPa (7.5 mmHg). This varies by weather.
