RELAY ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

PROCEDURE

1. INSPECT HEATER RELAY (for Manual Air Conditioning System)

   
   
   1. 

      *a	Component without harness connected (Heater Relay)

      Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition 3 - 4 Battery voltage is not applied between terminals 1 and 2 Below 1 Ω 3 - 5 Battery voltage is not applied between terminals 1 and 2 10 kΩ or higher 3 - 4 Battery voltage is applied between terminals 1 and 2 10 kΩ or higher 3 - 5 Battery voltage is applied between terminals 1 and 2 Below 1 Ω

      If the result is not as specified, replace the heater relay.

2. INSPECT MAGNET-CLUTCH RELAY

   
   
   1. 

      *a	Component without harness connected (Magnet-clutch Relay)

      Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition 3 - 5 Battery voltage is not applied between terminals 1 and 2 10 kΩ or higher 3 - 5 Battery voltage is applied between terminals 1 and 2 Below 1 Ω

      
      

      • If the result is not as specified, replace the magnet-clutch relay.

3. INSPECT PTC HEATER RELAY(PTC HTR NO. 1) (w/ PTC Heater)

   
   
   1. 

      *a	Component without harness connected (PTC Heater Relay)

      Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition 3 - 5 Battery voltage is not applied between terminals 1 and 2 10 kΩ or higher 3 - 5 Battery voltage is applied between terminals 1 and 2 Below 1 Ω

      
      

      • If the result is not as specified, replace the PTC heater relay (PTC HTR No. 1).

4. INSPECT PTC HEATER RELAY(PTC HTR NO. 2, NO. 3) (w/ PTC Heater)

   
   
   1. 

      *a	Component without harness connected (PTC Heater Relay)

      Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition 3 - 5 Battery voltage is not applied between terminals 1 and 2 10 kΩ or higher 3 - 5 Battery voltage is applied between terminals 1 and 2 Below 1 Ω

      
      

      • If the result is not as specified, replace the PTC heater relay (PTC HTR No. 2, No. 3).

5. INSPECT CONDENSER FAN RELAY (w/ Condenser Fan)

   
   
   1. 

      *a	Component without harness connected (Condenser Fan relay)

      Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition 3 - 5 Battery voltage is not applied between terminals 1 and 2 10 kΩ or higher 3 - 5 Battery voltage is applied between terminals 1 and 2 Below 1 Ω

      
      

      • If the result is not as specified, replace the condenser fan relay.

6. INSPECT VISCOUS HEATER RELAY (w/ Viscous Heater)

   
   
   1. 

      *a	Component without harness connected (Viscous Heater Relay)

      Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition 3 - 5 Battery voltage is not applied between terminals 1 and 2 10 kΩ or higher 3 - 5 Battery voltage is applied between terminals 1 and 2 Below 1 Ω

      
      

      • If the result is not as specified, replace the viscous heater relay.
