Tech Tips
Use the same procedure for the RH and LH sides.
The procedure listed below is for the LH side.
PROCEDURE
PRECAUTION
CAUTION:
Be sure to read Precaution thoroughly before servicing.
for Type A:
for Type B:
Note
After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.
DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
If the airbag deploys for any reason, it may cause a serious accident.
Note
When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.
REMOVE FRONT BUMPER COVER
REMOVE FRONT AIRBAG SENSOR LH
Check that the ignition switch is off.
Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.
CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
If this procedure is performed without disconnecting the negative (-) terminal of the battery, the airbag may deploy even if an impact is applied only to the front airbag sensor LH. Therefore, make sure that the negative (-) terminal of the battery is disconnected before performing this procedure.
Remove the nut.
Note
Loosen the nut while holding the front airbag sensor LH because the front airbag sensor LH guide is easily damaged.
If the front airbag sensor LH has been dropped, replace it with a new one.
Detach the guide and pull out the front airbag sensor LH.
Disconnect the airbag connector.
Note
When disconnecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
Push down the housing lock and slide the CPA. (At this time, the connector cannot be disconnected yet.)
