DESCRIPTION

The engine hood courtesy switch is installed together with the hood lock. This switch turns on when the engine hood is closed and turns off when the engine hood is opened.

Note


  • w/ Door Control Battery:

    As the door control battery is installed between the vehicle battery and body ECU, first perform the inspections to confirm that there are no malfunctions in the power source circuit for the body ECU before performing this troubleshooting procedure.

  • w/ Automatic Light Control System:

    If the body ECU has been replaced, it is necessary to initialize the body ECU.

PROCEDURE


  1. INSPECT ENGINE HOOD COURTESY SWITCH (HOOD LOCK ASSEMBLY)


    1. Remove the engine hood courtesy switch (hood lock assembly).

    2. Inspect the engine hood courtesy switch (hood lock assembly).

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ENGINE HOOD COURTESY SWITCH (HOOD LOCK ASSEMBLY) - INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY AND BODY GROUND)


    1. Disconnect the A26 engine hood courtesy switch (hood lock assembly) connector.

    2. Disconnect the 2D instrument panel junction block assembly connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A26-2 (+) - 2D-12 Always Below 1 Ω
      A26-2 (+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      2D-12 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A26-1 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

  3. INSPECT INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY


    1. Remove the body ECU.


    2. Disconnect the instrument panel junction block assembly connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
