DESCRIPTION

The body ECU determines the ignition switch position (LOCK, ACC, ON) based on signals from the IG or ACC circuit.

  • Inspect the fuses for circuits related to this system before performing the following procedure.

  • w/ Automatic Light Control System:

    If the body ECU has been replaced, it is necessary to initialize the body ECU.

    As the door control battery is installed between the vehicle battery and body ECU, first perform the inspections to confirm that there are no malfunctions in the power source circuit for the body ECU before performing this troubleshooting procedure.

  1. INSPECT IGNITION OR STARTER SWITCH ASSEMBLY


    1. Remove the ignition or starter switch assembly.


    2. Inspect the ignition or starter switch assembly.

    1. Disconnect the ignition or starter switch assembly connector.

      Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BODY ECU - IGNITION OR STARTER SWITCH ASSEMBLY AND BODY GROUND)


    1. Remove the body ECU.


    2. Connect the 2D, 2E and 2J instrument panel junction block assembly connectors.

    3. Disconnect the G135 ignition or starter switch assembly connector.

    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G135-8 (IG1) - A-7 (IG) Always Below 1 Ω
      G135-8 (IG1) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A-1 (GND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY - IGNITION OR STARTER SWITCH ASSEMBLY AND BODY GROUND)


    1. Disconnect the 2D, 2E and 2J instrument panel junction block assembly connectors.

    2. Disconnect the G135 ignition or starter switch assembly connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      2D-7 - 2D-5 Always Below 1 Ω
