STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY REASSEMBLY

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

Note


  • When using a vise, place aluminum plates between the part and vise.

  • When using a vise, do not overtighten it.

PROCEDURE


  1. INSTALL STEERING LOCK ACTUATOR OR UPPER BRACKET ASSEMBLY (for Smart Entry and Start System)

    Tech Tips

    When replacing the steering lock actuator assembly, refer to the Service Bulletin.

      Install the steering lock actuator assembly with the tapered-head bolt.

    2. Tighten the tapered-head bolt until the bolt head breaks off.

  2. INSTALL KEY INTERLOCK SOLENOID (for Automatic Transmission)

      Install the key interlock solenoid to the steering column upper with switch bracket with the screw.

  3. INSTALL IGNITION OR STARTER SWITCH ASSEMBLY

  4. INSTALL UN-LOCK WARNING SWITCH ASSEMBLY

  5. INSTALL IGNITION SWITCH LOCK CYLINDER ASSEMBLY


    1. Make sure that the ignition switch lock cylinder assembly is in the ACC position.

    2. Install the ignition switch lock cylinder assembly.

  6. INSPECT STEERING LOCK OPERATION


    1. Check that the steering lock mechanism is activated when the key is removed.

    2. Check that the steering lock mechanism is deactivated when the key is inserted and turned to the ACC position.

      If there is any abnormality, replace the ignition switch lock cylinder assembly.

  7. INSTALL STEERING LOCK ACTUATOR OR UPPER BRACKET ASSEMBLY

      Install the steering column upper with switch bracket assembly with the tapered-head bolt.

    2. Tighten the tapered-head bolt until the bolt head breaks off.

  8. INSTALL TRANSPONDER KEY COIL

  9. INSTALL STEERING SLIDING WITH COUPLING YOKE SUB-ASSEMBLY

      *a Matchmark

      Align the matchmarks on the steering sliding with coupling yoke sub-assembly and steering main shaft.

    2. Install the steering sliding with coupling yoke with the bolt.

      Torque:
      35 N*m  { 357 kgf*cm, 26 ft.*lbf }
