FRONT WIPER MOTOR INSTALLATION

Tech Tips


  • Use the same procedure for RHD and LHD vehicles.

  • The procedure listed below is for RHD vehicles.

PROCEDURE


  1. INSTALL WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR ASSEMBLY


    1. B003MMT

      Using a T30 "TORX" socket wrench, install the windshield wiper motor assembly with the 2 bolts.

      Torque:
      7.5 N*m  { 76 kgf*cm, 66 in.*lbf }

      *a Front Wiper Crank Pivot

      Apply MP grease to the front wiper crank pivot of the windshield wiper motor assembly.

      B003OFB Install in this Direction

      Connect the No. 1 windshield wiper link rod to the front wiper crank pivot of the windshield wiper motor assembly.

  2. INSTALL WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR AND LINK ASSEMBLY

    Note

    Be careful not to damage the windshield when installing the windshield wiper motor and link assembly.

      B003OFB Install in this Direction

      Attach the motor grommet to temporarily install the windshield wiper motor and link assembly as shown in the illustration.

    2. Install the windshield wiper motor and link assembly with the 2 bolts in the order indicated in the illustration.

      Torque:
      5.5 N*m  { 56 kgf*cm, 49 in.*lbf }

    3. Connect the connector.

  3. INSTALL HOOD TO COWL TOP SEAL

      Attach the claw and clip to install the hood to cowl top seal.

  4. INSTALL COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

      B003OFB Install in this Direction

      Push the cowl top ventilator louver sub-assembly in the direction indicated by the arrow in the illustration to attach the guide.

      B003OFB Install in this Direction

      Attach the claw and install the cowl top ventilator louver sub-assembly.

    3. B003JN0

      Install the 2 clips.

  5. INSTALL FRONT FENDER TO COWL SIDE SEAL RH

      Attach the guide and claw and install the front fender to cowl side seal RH as shown in the illustration.

  6. INSTALL FRONT FENDER TO COWL SIDE SEAL LH

    Use the same procedure described for the RH side.

  7. INSTALL HOOD TO FRONT FENDER SEAL RH

      Attach the claw and install the hood to front fender seal RH.

    Use the same procedure described for the RH side.

  9. INSTALL FENDER APRON MUDGUARD SEAL SUB-ASSEMBLY RH

      Attach the claw and clip and install the fender apron mudguard seal sub-assembly RH.

    2. Attach the clip and connect the hood to cowl top seal to the fender apron mudguard seal sub-assembly RH.

  10. INSTALL FENDER APRON MUDGUARD SEAL SUB-ASSEMBLY LH

    Tech Tips

    Use the same procedure described for the RH side.

  11. INSTALL FRONT WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY LH


    1. When reinstalling:

      Note

      Do not grind the serrations excessively.

        *a Wiper Arm Serrations
        *b Wiper Pivot Serrations

        Clean the wiper arm serrations.

      2. Clean the wiper pivot serrations.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    3. Operate the wiper switch and stop the windshield wiper motor assembly at the automatic stop (park) position.

    4. Turn the ignition switch off.

      *c 19.5 to 34.5 mm (0.7677 to 1.3583 in.)
      *d 18.9 mm (0.7441 in.)
      *e 24 mm (0.9449 in.)
      *f 22.7 to 37.7 mm (0.8937 to 1.4842 in.)

      Align the front wiper arm and blade assembly LH as shown in the illustration and install it with the nut.

      Torque:
      24 N*m  { 245 kgf*cm, 18 ft.*lbf }

      Tech Tips

      Hold the arm hinge by hand when tightening the nut.

    6. Operate the front wipers while spraying washer fluid on the glass. Make sure that the front wipers function properly and the wipers do not come into contact with the vehicle body.

    7. Raise the wiper arm 2 times and check that the tip of the front wiper blade is at the position shown in the illustration.

  12. INSTALL FRONT WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY RH


    1. When reinstalling:

      Note

      Do not grind the serrations excessively.

        Clean the wiper arm serrations.

      2. Clean the wiper pivot serrations.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    3. Operate the wiper switch and stop the windshield wiper motor assembly at the automatic stop (park) position.

    4. Turn the ignition switch off.

      *c 22.7 to 37.7 mm (0.8937 to 1.4842 in.)
      *d 24 mm (0.9449 in.)
      *e 18.9 mm (0.7441 in.)
      *f 19.5 to 34.5 mm (0.7677 to 1.3583 in.)

      Align the front wiper arm and blade assembly RH as shown in the illustration and install it with the nut.

      Torque:
      24 N*m  { 245 kgf*cm, 18 ft.*lbf }

      Tech Tips

      Hold the arm hinge by hand when tightening the nut.

    6. Operate the front wipers while spraying washer fluid on the glass. Make sure that the front wipers function properly and the wipers do not come into contact with the vehicle body.

    7. Raise the wiper arm 2 times and check that the tip of the front wiper blade is at the position shown in the illustration.

  13. INSTALL FRONT WIPER ARM HEAD CAP

      Attach the claw and install the front wiper arm head cap.

      Tech Tips

      Use the same procedure for both front wiper arm head caps.
