POWER BACK DOOR DRIVE UNIT INSTALLATION

Tech Tips


  • Use the same procedure for the RH and LH sides.

  • The procedure listed below is for the LH side.

PROCEDURE


  1. INSTALL UPPER BACK DOOR DAMPER STAY BRACKET LH


    1. Clean the threaded portion on the vehicle body with non-residue solvent.

    2. B003QECN01

      Temporarily install the upper back door damper stay bracket LH.

    3. Tighten 2 new bolts to install the upper back door damper stay bracket LH.

      Tech Tips

      Tighten the 2 bolts in the order shown in the illustration.

      Torque:
      7.5 N*m  { 76 kgf*cm, 66 in.*lbf }

  2. INSTALL LOWER BACK DOOR DAMPER STAY BRACKET LH


    1. Clean the threaded portion on the back door panel with non-residue solvent.

    2. B003L3YN01

      Temporarily install the lower back door damper stay bracket LH.

    3. Tighten 2 new bolts to install the lower back door damper stay bracket LH.

      Tech Tips

      Tighten the 2 bolts in the order shown in the illustration.

      Torque:
      7.5 N*m  { 76 kgf*cm, 66 in.*lbf }

  3. INSTALL POWER BACK DOOR UNIT ASSEMBLY LH

    Note

    Do not apply any horizontal load to the power back door unit set assembly in order to prevent the pistion rod from deforming.

      Attach the 2 ball joints to install a new power back door unit assembly LH.

      Note


      • Install the power back door unit assembly while supporting the back door by hand.

      • Check that the back door stay assembly is engaged in the ball joint and that the back door support assembly cannot be pulled out.

    2. Attach the grommet.

      Connect the connector.
