Tech Tips


  • Use the same procedure for the RH and LH sides.

  • The procedure listed below is for the LH side.

  • A bolt without a torque specification is shown in the standard bolt chart.

PROCEDURE


  1. INSTALL REAR QUARTER WINDOW GLASS RETAINER SUB-ASSEMBLY LH


    1. B003RK3

      Attach the clip.

    2. Install the rear quarter window glass retainer sub-assembly LH with the screw.

  2. CLEAN QUARTER WINDOW ASSEMBLY LH


    1. Clean the outer edges of a new quarter window assembly LH with non-residue solvent.

  3. INSTALL UPPER QUARTER WINDOW GLASS RETAINER


    1. Apply Primer G to the upper quarter window glass retainer installation area on the quarter window glass LH.

      Note

      Do not apply too much Primer G.

    2. Remove the peeling paper and install a new upper quarter window glass retainer.

      Install the upper quarter window glass retainer to the quarter window glass LH in the location shown in the illustration.

      Note

      Install the upper quarter window glass retainer after Primer G has been allowed to dry (approximately 3 minuts).

  4. INSTALL FRONT QUARTER WINDOW GLASS RETAINER


    1. Apply Primer G to the front quarter window glass retainer installation area on the quarter window glass LH.

      Note

      Do not apply too much Primer G.

    2. Remove the peeling paper and install a new front quarter window glass retainer.

      Install the front quarter window glass retainer to the quarter window glass LH in the location shown in the illustration.

      Note

      Install the front quarter window glass retainer after Primer G has been allowed to dry (approximately 3 minuts).

  5. INSTALL NO. 2 QUARTER WINDOW GUIDE PIECE PIN


    1. Apply Primer G to the No. 2 quarter window guide piece pin installation area on the quarter window glass LH.

      Note

      Do not apply too much Primer G.

    2. Remove the peeling paper and install a new No. 2 quarter window guide piece pin.

      Install the No. 2 quarter window guide piece pin to the quarter window glass LH in the location shown in the illustration.

      Note

      Install the No. 2 quarter window guide piece pin after Primer G has been allowed to dry (approximately 3 minuts).

  6. INSTALL REAR QUARTER WINDOW GLASS RETAINER


    1. Apply Primer G to the rear quarter window glass retainer installation area on the quarter window glass LH.

      Note

      Do not apply too much Primer G.

    2. Remove the peeling paper and install a new rear quarter window glass retainer.

      Install the rear quarter window glass retainer to the quarter window glass LH in the location shown in the illustration.

      Note

  7. INSTALL LOWER QUARTER WINDOW GLASS RETAINER


    1. Apply Primer G to the lower quarter window glass retainer installation area on the quarter window glass LH.

      Note

      Do not apply too much Primer G.

    2. Remove the peeling paper and install a new lower quarter window glass retainer.

      Install the lower quarter window glass retainer to the quarter window glass LH in the location shown in the illustration.

      Note

      Install the lower quarter window glass retainer after Primer G has been allowed to dry (approximately 3 minuts).

  8. INSTALL REAR SIDE WINDOW GLASS ADHESIVE DAM


    1. Apply Primer G to the rear side window glass adhesive dam installation area of the quarter window glass.

      Note

      Do not apply too much Primer G.

    2. Remove the peeling paper and install a new rear side window glass adhesive dam.

    3. Install the rear side window glass adhesive dam to the quarter window glass in the location shown in the illustration.

      Note

      Install the rear side window glass adhesive dam after Primer G has been allowed to dry (approximately 3 minuts).

  9. INSTALL QUARTER WINDOW MOULDING LH

      *2 Quarter Window Glass LH
      B003KT0 Primer G

      Apply Primer G to the quarter window moulding LH installation area of the quarter window glass LH and new quarter window moulding LH.

      Note

      Do not apply too much Primer G.

      Apply adhesive to the quarter window moulding LH.


      1. Cut off the tip of a cartridge nozzle.

      2. Load a sealer gun with the cartridge.

      3. Apply adhesive to the quarter window moulding LH as shown in the illustration.

        Note

        Apply the adhesive after Primer G has been allowed to dry (approximately 3 minuts).

    3. Remove the peeling paper and install the quarter window moulding LH.

    4. Install the quarter window moulding LH as shown in the illustration.

    5. Apply non-residue solvent to a clean cloth and wipe off any excess or protruding adhesive.

  10. INSTALL QUARTER WINDOW GLASS SPACER


    1. Apply Primer G to the quarter window glass spacer installation area on the quarter window glass LH.

      Note

      Do not apply too much Primer G.

    2. Remove the peeling paper and install a new quarter window glass spacer.

      Install the quarter window glass spacer to the quarter window glass LH in the location shown in the illustration.

      Note

  11. INSTALL QUARTER WINDOW CLIP


    1. Apply Primer G to the quarter window clip installation area of the quarter window glass LH.

      Note

      Do not apply too much Primer G.

    2. Apply adhesive to the location shown in the illustration and install the 8 quarter window clips (for Type A) and quarter window clip (for Type B) to the quarter window glass LH in the location shown in the illustration.

    3. Using a scraper, remove any excess adhesive or apply as necessary.

      Note

      Apply adhesive up to the edge of the windshield glass.

  12. INSTALL REAR OUTSIDE QUARTER WINDOW MOULDING LH


    1. After the adhesive hardens, attach the claw to install the rear outside quarter window moulding LH as shown in the illustration.

  13. INSTALL QUARTER WINDOW ASSEMBLY LH

      Clean and shape the contact surface of the vehicle body.


      1. On the contact surface of the vehicle body, use a knife to cut away excess adhesive as shown in the illustration.

        Tech Tips

        Leave as much adhesive on the vehicle body as possible.

        Note

        Be careful not to damage the vehicle body.

      2. Clean the contact surface of the vehicle body with cleaner.

        Tech Tips

        Even if all the adhesive has been removed, clean the vehicle body.

    2. Clean the outer edges of the quarter window assembly LH with non-residue solvent.

    3. Quarter window assembly LH preliminary installation procedures.


      1. Install the suction cups to a new quarter window assembly LH.

      2. Using a brush or sponge, apply Primer M to the exposed part of the vehicle body.

        Note


        • Do not apply too much Primer M.

        • Do not apply Primer M to the adhesive.

        • Be careful when applying primer to the panel joints and spot welds.

        • Allow the primer to dry for 3 minutes or more.

        • Throw away any leftover primer.

    4. Apply Primer G to the quarter window glass assembly LH in the locations shown in the illustration.

      Tech Tips

      If primer is applied to an area that is not specified, wipe off the primer with non-residue solvent before it dries.

      Note


      • Allow the primer to dry for 3 minutes or more.

      • Throw away any leftover primer.

      • Do not apply too much primer.

    5. Apply adhesive to the quarter window assembly LH.

      Adhesive
      Toyota Genuine Windshield Glass Adhesive or equivalent

        Cut off the tip of the cartridge nozzle as shown in the illustration.

        Tech Tips

        After cutting off the tip, use all adhesive within the time written in the table below.

    6. Load the sealer gun with the cartridge.

    7. Apply a bead of adhesive to the quarter window assembly LH in the locations shown in the illustration.

      Note

      Apply the adhesive after Primer G has been allowed to dry (approximately 3 minuts).

    8. Using suction cups, attach the 4 clips to install the quarter window assembly LH.

      Note


      • Install the quarter window assembly LH after Primer M on the vehicle body has been allowed to dry (approximately 3 minuts).

      • From the interior, check that the quarter window assembly LH is securely attached.

    9. Lightly press the quarter window assembly LH from outside the vehicle so that it is securely fit to the vehicle body.

      Tech Tips

      Press the glass with a force of 98 N (10 kgf, 22 lbf) or more.

    10. Using a scraper, remove any excess adhesive or apply as necessary.

    11. Remove any excess adhesive before it hardens.

    12. Hold the quarter window assembly LH in place securely with protective tape or equivalent until the adhesive hardens.

      Tech Tips

      Follow the instructions for each adhesive manufacturer or the corresponding owner's manual for the minimum amount of time necessary prior to driving the vehicle.

  14. CHECK FOR QUARTER WINDOW ASSEMBLY LH


    1. Conduct a leak test after the adhesive has completely hardened.

    2. Seal any leaks with auto glass sealer.

    3. Remove any protective tape.
