WIPER SWITCH REMOVAL

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

The necessary procedures (adjustment, calibration, initialization or registration) that must be performed after parts are removed, installed or replaced during the windshield wiper switch assembly removal/installation are shown below.

PROCEDURE

    Note

    After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal notice before proceeding with work.

  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    CAUTION:


    • Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    • If the airbag deploys for any reason, it may cause a serious accident.

    Note

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

  3. REMOVE LOWER STEERING COLUMN COVER

    Note

    If the removal procedures are followed incorrectly, the part may become damaged.


    1. Release the tilt and telescopic lever, and fully extend and lower the steering column assembly.

      Note

      Before operating the tilt and telescopic lever, make note of the current steering position.

      With the steering wheel assembly facing straight ahead, turn the steering wheel 90° to the right and remove the screw shown in the illustration.

      With the steering wheel assembly facing straight ahead, turn the steering wheel 90° to the left and remove the screw shown in the illustration.

      Remove the screw.

      Press on the left and right sides of the lower steering column cover to detach the claw.

      Detach the claw and remove the lower steering column cover.

  4. REMOVE UPPER STEERING COLUMN COVER

      Detach the claw and remove the upper steering column cover from steering column assembly.

  5. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSEMBLY

    1. Disconnect the 2 connectors.

      B003KT0 Protective Tape
      B003OFB Remove in this Direction

      Using a screwdriver, detach the claw and remove the windshield wiper switch assembly as shown in the illustration.

      Note

      Do not damage the claw.

      Tech Tips

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
