WIPER SWITCH ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

PROCEDURE


  1. INSPECT WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSEMBLY (for LHD)


    1. Check the front wiper intermittent operation.

        (Windshield Wiper Switch Assembly)

        Connect a voltmeter positive (+) lead to terminal G21-3 (+1) and a negative (-) lead to terminal G20-4 (EW).

      2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

      3. Turn the wiper switch to the INT position.

      4. Operate the intermittent wiper and check the voltage between terminals G21-3 (+1) and G20-4 (EW).

        OK
        Voltage changes as shown in the illustration.

        If the result is not as specified, replace the windshield wiper switch assembly.

    2. Check the front washer operation.

        (Windshield Wiper Switch Assembly)

        Connect a voltmeter positive (+) lead to terminal G20-7 (WF) and a negative (-) lead to terminal G20-4 (EW).

      2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

      3. Turn the washer switch on and off, and check the voltage between terminals G20-7 (WF) and G20-4 (EW).

        OK
        Voltage changes as shown in the following illustration.

        If the result is not as specified, replace the windshield wiper switch assembly.

    3. Check the rear washer operation.

        (Windshield Wiper Switch Assembly)

        Connect a voltmeter positive (+) lead to terminal G21-5 (WR) and a negative (-) lead to terminal G20-4 (EW).

      2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

      3. Turn the rear washer switch on and off, and check the voltage between terminals G21-5 (WR) and G20-4 (EW).

        OK
        Voltage changes as shown in the following illustration.

        If the result is not as specified, replace the windshield wiper switch assembly.

  2. INSPECT WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSEMBLY (for RHD)


    1. Check the front wiper intermittent operation.

        (Windshield Wiper Switch Assembly)

        Connect a voltmeter positive (+) lead to terminal G21-2 (+1) and a negative (-) lead to terminal G20-7 (EW).

      2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

      3. Turn the wiper switch to the INT position.

      4. Operate the intermittent wiper and check the voltage between terminals G21-2 (+1) and G20-7 (EW).

        OK
        Voltage changes as shown in the illustration.

        If the result is not as specified, replace the windshield wiper switch assembly.

    2. Check the front washer operation.

        Connect a voltmeter positive (+) lead to terminal G20-4 (WF) and a negative (-) lead to terminal G20-7 (EW).

      2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

      3. Turn the washer switch on and off, and check the voltage between terminals G20-4 (WF) and G20-7 (EW).

        OK
        Voltage changes as shown in the following illustration.

        If the result is not as specified, replace the windshield wiper switch assembly.

    3. Check the rear washer operation.

        Connect a voltmeter positive (+) lead to terminal G21-10 (WR) and a negative (-) lead to terminal G20-7 (EW).

      2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

      3. Turn the rear washer switch on and off, and check the voltage between terminals G21-10 (WR) and G20-7 (EW).

        OK
        Voltage changes as shown in the following illustration.

        If the result is not as specified, replace the windshield wiper switch assembly.
