REAR AXLE SHAFT REMOVAL

  • Use the same procedure for the RH and LH sides.

  • The procedure listed below is for the LH side.

PROCEDURE


  1. REMOVE REAR WHEEL

  2. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE ASSEMBLY

  3. DISCONNECT NO. 3 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY

      Remove the 2 bolts and disconnect the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly.

  4. DISCONNECT REAR SPEED SENSOR LH

      Remove the bolt and disconnect the rear speed sensor LH.

  5. REMOVE REAR AXLE SHAFT WITH BACKING PLATE

      Remove the 4 nuts.

    2. Pull out the rear axle shaft with backing plate from the rear axle housing.

  6. REMOVE REAR AXLE BEARING CASE O-RING LH


    1. Remove the rear axle bearing case O-ring LH from the axle housing.

  7. REMOVE REAR AXLE SHAFT OIL SEAL LH

      Using SST, tap out the rear axle shaft oil seal LH.

      Note

      Be careful not to damage the rear axle housing hole.
