FRONT AXLE HUB REMOVAL

  • Use the same procedure for the RH and LH sides.

  • The procedure listed below is for the LH side.

PROCEDURE


  1. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL

  2. DISCONNECT FRONT SPEED SENSOR LH

    Click here

  3. DISCONNECT FRONT DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY LH

    Click here

  4. REMOVE FRONT DISC

    Click here

  5. REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB GREASE CAP LH (for 4WD)

    1. Using a screwdriver and hammer, remove the front axle hub grease cap LH.

      Note

      Do not damage the front axle hub.

  6. REMOVE FRONT AXLE SHAFT NUT LH (for 4WD)

    1. Remove the cotter pin and lock cap.

    2. Using a 35 mm socket wrench, remove the axle shaft nut LH.

  7. REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB SUB-ASSEMBLY LH (for 4WD)

    1. Remove the 4 bolts, dust cover and front axle hub sub-assembly LH from the steering knuckle LH.

    2. Remove the O-ring from the front axle hub sub-assembly LH.

  8. REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB SUB-ASSEMBLY LH (for Pre-Runner)

      Remove the 4 bolts, dust cover and front axle hub sub-assembly LH from the steering knuckle LH.

    2. Remove the O-ring from the front axle hub sub-assembly LH.

  9. REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB INNER BEARING LH (for 4WD)

      Fix the front axle hub sub-assembly LH in a soft vise.

    2. Using SST, remove the front axle hub inner bearing LH.

  10. REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB INNER BEARING LH (for Pre-Runner)

      Using SST and a hammer, unstake the adjusting nut.

      Using SST, remove the adjusting nut.

    3. B003NF2N01

      Fix the front axle hub in a soft vise.

    4. Using SST, remove the front axle hub inner bearing LH.

  11. REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB OIL SEAL LH


    1. B003KJH

      Using a screwdriver, pry out the front axle hub oil seal LH.

  12. REMOVE PLUG (for Pre-Runner)


    1. B003PX2

      Using a screwdriver and hammer, remove the plug.
