REAR AXLE SHAFT INSTALLATION

Tech Tips


  • Use the same procedure for the RH and LH sides.

  • The procedure listed below is for the LH side.

PROCEDURE


  1. INSTALL REAR AXLE SHAFT OIL SEAL LH


    1. B003LI2C01
      *a Depth

      Using SST and a hammer, tap in a new rear axle shaft oil seal LH.

      SST
      09950-60020   ( 09951-00680 )
      09950-70010   ( 09951-07150 )
      Standard depth
      6.3 to 7.3 mm (0.249 to 0.287 in.)

    2. Coat the lip of the rear axle shaft oil seal LH with MP grease.

  2. INSTALL REAR AXLE BEARING CASE O-RING LH


    1. Install a new rear axle bearing case O-ring LH to the rear axle housing.

  3. INSTALL REAR AXLE SHAFT WITH BACKING PLATE


    1. B003RCY

      Install the rear axle shaft with backing plate with the 4 nuts.

      Torque:
      60 N*m  { 612 kgf*cm, 44 ft.*lbf }

  4. CONNECT REAR SPEED SENSOR LH


    1. B003K37

      Connect the rear speed sensor LH to the rear axle housing with the bolt.

      Torque:
      8.5 N*m  { 87 kgf*cm, 75 in.*lbf }

  5. CONNECT NO. 3 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY


    1. Connect the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly with the 2 bolts.

      Torque:
      8.0 N*m  { 82 kgf*cm, 71 in.*lbf }

  6. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE ASSEMBLY

  7. ADJUST PARKING BRAKE

  8. INSTALL REAR WHEEL

  9. CHECK SPEED SENSOR SIGNAL
