PARKING BRAKE CABLE REMOVAL

PROCEDURE

1. REMOVE REAR WHEEL

2. REMOVE REAR BRAKE DRUM SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Rear Drum Brake)

3. DISCONNECT REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY LH (for Rear Disc Brake)

   Click here

4. DISCONNECT REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY RH (for Rear Disc Brake)

   Tech Tips

   Use the same procedure described for the LH side.

5. REMOVE REAR DISC LH (for Rear Disc Brake)

6. INSTALL REAR DISC RH (for Rear Disc Brake)

   Tech Tips

   Use the same procedure described for the LH side.

7. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE LEVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

8. REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY (for Power Seat)

   Click here

9. REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY (for Manual Seat)

10. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH

    Click here

11. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH

12. REMOVE REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH

13. REMOVE REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH

14. REMOVE LOWER CENTER PILLAR GARNISH LH

15. REMOVE LOWER CENTER PILLAR GARNISH RH

16. REMOVE INTERMEDIATE LEVER PROTECTOR

    
    

    1. Partially remove the floor carpet.

       Tech Tips

       It is not necessary to fully remove the floor carpet. Partially remove it so that the intermediate lever protector can be removed in a later step.

    2. 

       Remove the 3 bolts and intermediate lever protector with No. 2 console box mounting bracket.

17. REMOVE NO. 2 CONSOLE BOX MOUNTING BRACKET

    
    

    1. 

       Remove the 2 bolts and No. 2 console box mounting bracket from the intermediate lever protector.

18. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE CABLE HEAT INSULATOR

    
    

    1. 

       Remove the 2 bolts and parking brake cable heat insulator.

19. REMOVE NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE CABLE HEAT INSULATOR

    
    

    1. 

       Remove the 2 bolts and No. 2 parking brake cable heat insulator.

20. REMOVE PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY

21. REMOVE FUEL TANK

22. REMOVE NO. 1 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY

    
    

    1. Remove the 2 bolts (labeled A).

       

       *1	No. 1 Parking Brake Cable Assembly	*2	No. 2 Parking Brake Cable Assembly
       *3	No. 3 Parking Brake Cable Assembly	*4	Parking Brake Equalizer Sub-assembly
       *5	Cable Support Bracket	-	-

    2. Remove the clip and pin from the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly.

    3. Disconnect the No. 1 parking brake cable assembly from the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly.

    4. Disconnect the No. 1 parking brake cable assembly from the parking brake equalizer sub-assembly.

    5. Disconnect the No. 1 parking brake cable assembly from the cable support bracket.

    6. Remove the No. 1 parking brake cable assembly from inside the vehicle.

    7. Remove the bolt (labeled B) and cable support bracket.

23. REMOVE NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY

    
    

    1. Disconnect the No. 2 parking brake cable assembly from the parking brake shoe lever.

    2. Remove the 2 bolts and disconnect the No. 2 parking brake cable assembly from the backing plate.

    3. Disconnect the No. 2 parking brake cable assembly from the parking brake equalizer sub-assembly.

       No. 2 Parking Brake Cable Assembly

       Parking Brake Equalizer Sub-assembly

    4. Remove the 4 bolts and No. 2 parking brake cable assembly.

24. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE EQUALIZER SUB-ASSEMBLY

    
    

    1. 

       Remove the 2 bolts and parking brake equalizer sub-assembly.

25. REMOVE NO. 3 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY

    
    

    1. Disconnect the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly from the parking brake shoe lever.

    2. Remove the 2 bolts and disconnect the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly from the backing plate.

    3. Remove the clip.

    4. Remove the 4 bolts, nut and No. 3 parking brake cable assembly.
