VANE PUMP(for 5L-E) REASSEMBLY

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

Note


  • When using a vise, place aluminum plates between the part and vise.

  • When using a vise, do not overtighten it.

PROCEDURE


  1. INSTALL VANE PUMP HOUSING OIL SEAL


    1. Coat the lip of a new vane pump housing oil seal with power steering fluid.

      Using SST and a press, press in the vane pump housing oil seal to the front vane pump housing.

      Note

      Make sure that the vane pump housing oil seal is installed in the correct direction as shown in the illustration.

  2. INSTALL VANE PUMP SHAFT

      *a Power Steering Fluid

      Coat the inside surface of the bushing in the front vane pump housing with power steering fluid.

    2. Gradually insert the vane pump shaft from the pulley side.

  3. INSTALL VANE PUMP ROTOR

      Install the vane pump rotor.

      Tech Tips

      The vane pump rotor has no specific direction.

    2. Using a snap ring expander, install a new vane pump shaft snap ring to the vane pump shaft.

    3. Coat all 10 vane pump plate with power steering fluid.

      Install the vane pump plates with the round end facing outward.

      Note

      Make sure that the vane pump plate are installed in the correct direction.

  4. INSTALL VANE PUMP CAM RING

      *a Inscribed Mark

      Align the holes of the vane pump cam ring withe the 2 straight pins, and install the vane pump cam ring with the inscribed mark facing upward.

      Note

      Make sure that the cam ring is installed in the correct direction.

  5. INSTALL FRONT VANE PUMP SIDE PLATE

      Coat a new O-ring with power steering fluid and install it onto the rear vane pump side plate.

    2. B003L97

      Align the groove of the cam ring with that of the rear vane pump side plate, and install the rear vane pump side plate.

      Install the wave washer so that its protrusions fit into the slots in the rear vane pump side plate.

  6. INSTALL REAR VANE PUMP HOUSING


    1. Install a new gasket.

    2. Coat a new O-ring with power steering fluid and install it to the rear vane pump housing.

      Install the rear vane pump housing with the 4 bolts.

      Torque:
      24 N*m  { 245 kgf*cm, 18 ft.*lbf }
  7. INSPECT ROTATING TORQUE


    1. B003OR0

      Check that pump rotates smoothly without abnormal noise.

    2. Temporarily install the vane pump pulley set nut to the vane pump shaft.

    3. Using a torque wrench, measure the rotating torque.

      Standard rotating torque
      0.27 N*m (3 kgf*cm, 2 in.*lbf) or less

      If the rotating torque is not as specified, check the installation of the vane pump housing oil seal.

  8. INSTALL FLOW CONTROL VALVE


    1. Coat the compression spring and flow control valve with power steering fluid.

    2. B003KG1

      Install the compression spring and flow control valve.

    3. Coat a new O-ring with power steering fluid and install it onto the pressure port union.

    4. Install the pressure port union to the front vane pump housing.

      Torque:
      83 N*m  { 846 kgf*cm, 61 ft.*lbf }
  9. INSTALL POWER STEERING SUCTION PORT UNION


    1. Coat a new O-ring with power steering fluid and install on to the suction port union.

    2. B003NQ4

      Install the suction port union to the front vane pump housing with the bolt.

      Torque:
      13 N*m  { 133 kgf*cm, 10 ft.*lbf }
