STARTER(for 2.0 kW Type) DISASSEMBLY

PROCEDURE

1. REMOVE STARTER YOKE ASSEMBLY

   
   

   1. 

      Detach the wire harness clamp, remove the nut and disconnect the lead wire from terminal C.

   2. Remove the 2 bolts, and then remove the starter yoke assembly together with the commutator end frame.

   3. Remove the O-ring from the starter yoke assembly.

2. REMOVE STARTER BRUSH HOLDER ASSEMBLY

   
   

   1. 

      Remove the 2 screws and commutator end frame from the starter yoke assembly.

      Note

      While holding down the lead wire, remove the starter commutator end frame.

   2. Remove the O-ring from the starter yoke assembly.

   3. Disconnect the 4 starter brushes from the starter brush holder assembly.

      
      

      1. 

         Using a screwdriver, pull back the spring.

      2. Disconnect the brush from the starter brush holder assembly.

   4. Remove the starter brush holder assembly from the starter yoke assembly.

3. REMOVE STARTER ARMATURE ASSEMBLY

   Note

   Turn the starter armature assembly and check that it turns freely.

   
   

   1. Remove the starter armature assembly from the starter yoke assembly.

4. REMOVE MAGNET STARTER SWITCH ASSEMBLY

   
   

   1. 

      Remove the 2 screws and starter drive housing assembly.

      Note

      Do not drop the idle gear, retainer or clutch roller.

5. REMOVE STARTER CLUTCH SUB-ASSEMBLY

   
   
   1. 

      *1	Clutch roller
      *2	Retainer
      *3	Idle Gear
      *4	Return Spring
      *5	Starter Clutch Sub-assembly

      Remove the idle gear, retainer, clutch roller, starter clutch sub-assembly and return spring from the starter drive housing assembly.

   2. 

      *a	Magnet Hand

      Using a magnet hand, remove the steel ball from the clutch shaft hole.
