STARTER(for 2.2 kW Type) DISASSEMBLY

PROCEDURE


  1. REMOVE MAGNET STARTER SWITCH ASSEMBLY

      Remove the nut and disconnect the lead wire from terminal C.

      Remove the 2 screws holding the magnet starter switch assembly to the starter drive housing.

    3. Remove the return spring and magnet starter switch assembly.

      While lifting the plunger, remove the hook from the pinion drive lever, then remove the plunger.

      Remove the plate from the plunger.

  2. REMOVE STARTER YOKE ASSEMBLY

      Using a 7 mm socket wrench, remove the 2 bolts and starter yoke assembly from the starter drive housing.

      *2 Starter Drive Housing

      Remove the starter armature plate from the starter drive housing.

  3. REMOVE STARTER ARMATURE ASSEMBLY

      *1 Starter Yoke Assembly
      *2 Starter Armature Assembly

      Remove the starter armature assembly together with the starter brush holder assembly from the starter yoke assembly.

  4. INSPECT STARTER BRUSH HOLDER ASSEMBLY


    1. Check whether the springs of the starter brush holder are contacting the brushes.

    2. Check that the springs of the starter brush holder are free from dirt and rust.

  5. REMOVE STARTER BRUSH HOLDER ASSEMBLY

      Using a screwdriver, pry the end of the spring away from each brush and pull out the 4 brushes from the brush holder so that they are held in place by the springs.

      Note

      Do not apply excessive force to the brushes. Otherwise, the brushes and brush holder may become damaged or bent.

    2. Remove the starter brush holder assembly.

      Remove the washer from the starter armature assembly.

  6. REMOVE RUBBER SEAL

      Remove the rubber seal from the starter drive housing.
