EXHAUST MANIFOLD REMOVAL

The necessary procedures (adjustment, calibration, initialization, or registration) that must be performed after parts are removed, installed, or replaced during the exhaust manifold removal/installation are shown below.

PROCEDURE


  1. REMOVE FRONT FENDER SEAL RH

  2. REMOVE AIR SWITCHING VALVE ASSEMBLY (w/ Secondary Air Injection System)

  3. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP SUB-ASSEMBLY WITH NO. 1 AIR CLEANER HOSE (w/o Secondary Air Injection System)

  4. REMOVE AIR CLEANER FILTER ELEMENT SUB-ASSEMBLY (w/o Secondary Air Injection System)

  5. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CASE SUB-ASSEMBLY (w/o Secondary Air Injection System)

  6. REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY

    CAUTION:

    To prevent burns, do not touch the engine, exhaust pipe or other high temperature components while the engine is hot.


    1. Disconnect the air fuel ratio sensor connector and detach the 3 wire harness clamps.

    2. for 2WD:

      Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor connector and detach the 4 wire harness clamps.

    3. for 4WD:

      Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor connector and detach the wire harness clamp.

    4. Remove the 4 bolts, 2 nuts and 2 compression springs.

    5. Remove the front exhaust pipe assembly from the No. 1 exhaust pipe support.

    6. Remove the 2 gaskets.

  7. REMOVE NO. 1 EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT INSULATOR (w/o Secondary Air Injection System)

    CAUTION:

    To prevent burns, do not touch the engine, exhaust manifold or other high temperature components while the engine is hot.


    1. B003PNV

      Remove the 5 bolts and No. 1 exhaust manifold heat insulator.

  8. REMOVE MANIFOLD STAY

    CAUTION:

    To prevent burns, do not touch the engine, exhaust manifold or other high temperature components while the engine is hot.


    1. B003OCS

      Remove the 3 bolts and manifold stay.

  9. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD

    CAUTION:

    To prevent burns, do not touch the engine, exhaust manifold or other high temperature components while the engine is hot.


    1. B003RDD

      w/o Secondary Air Injection System:

      Remove the 6 nuts and exhaust manifold.

    2. B003LD4

      w/ Secondary Air Injection System:

      Remove the 8 nuts and exhaust manifold.

    3. Remove the gasket.
