FRONT BRAKE INSTALLATION

Tech Tips


  • Use the same procedure for the RH and LH sides.

  • The procedure listed below is for the LH side.

PROCEDURE


  1. INSTALL FRONT DISC

      *a Matchmark

      Align the matchmarks and install the front disc.

      Tech Tips

      When replacing the disc with a new one, select the installation position where the front disc has the smallest runout.

  2. INSTALL DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY LH


    1. Install the disc brake cylinder assembly LH with the 2 bolts.

      Torque:
      197 N*m  { 2009 kgf*cm, 145 ft.*lbf }
  3. CONNECT FRONT NO. 1 WHEEL CYLINDER TUBE LH


    1. B003N95C03
      *a Torque Wrench Fulcrum Length

      Using a union nut wrench, connect the front No. 1 wheel cylinder tube LH to the disc brake cylinder assembly LH.

      Torque:
      Specified tightening torque
      15.2 N*m  { 155 kgf*cm, 11 ft.*lbf }

      Tech Tips


      • Calculate the torque wrench reading when changing the fulcrum length of the torque wrench.

      • When using union nut wrench (fulcrum length of 22 mm (0.8661 in.)) + torque wrench (fulcrum length of 162 mm (6.3779 in.)): 13.4 N*m (137 kgf*cm, 10 ft.*lbf)

  4. INSTALL FRONT ANTI-SQUEAL SHIM KIT


    1. Install the front No. 1 anti-squeal shims to the each pad.

      Note

      When replacing worn front disc brake pads, the anti-squeal shims must be replaced together with the front disc brake pads.

  5. INSTALL FRONT DISC BRAKE PAD


    1. Install the 2 front disc brake pads to the disc brake cylinder assembly LH.

      Note

      Make sure there is no oil or grease on the friction surface of the front disc brake pads and front disc.

  6. INSTALL FRONT DISC BRAKE ANTI-RATTLE SPRING


    1. Install the 2 disc brake pad guide pins and front disc brake anti-rattle spring.

    2. Install the 2 pin hold clips.

      Note

      When installing the pin hold clip, be sure to install the pin hold clip with the handle facing the center of the vehicle.
