  • Use the same procedure for the RH and LH sides.

  • The procedure listed below is for the LH side.

PROCEDURE


  1. INSTALL REAR BRAKE DRUM SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. Install a new brake drum gasket and rear brake drum sub-assembly.

  2. ADJUST REAR DRUM BRAKE SHOE CLEARANCE


    1. Temporarily install 2 wheel nuts.

      Using a screwdriver, remove the shoe adjusting hole plug, and turn the adjuster to expand the shoe until the drum locks.

      *1 Rear Brake Automatic Adjust Lever
      B003OFB Contract

      Hold the rear brake automatic adjust lever away from the adjuster, and contract the brake shoe by turning the adjustment bolt using another screwdriver until the drum rotates smoothly.

      Standard
      13 notches

    4. Install the shoe adjusting hole plug.

    5. B003MIR

      Measure the brake drum inner diameter and the diameter of the brake shoes. Check that the difference between the diameters is equal to the specified shoe clearance.

      Standard shoe clearance
      0.5 mm (0.0197 in.)
