ENGINE UNIT REASSEMBLY

PROCEDURE


  1. INSTALL REAR CRANKSHAFT OIL SEAL


    1. B003PRUE03

      Using SST and a hammer, tap in a new rear crankshaft oil seal until its surface is flush with the rear crankshaft oil seal retainer edge.

      09950-70010   ( 09951-07100 )

    2. Apply MP grease to the lip of the rear crankshaft oil seal.

  2. INSTALL REAR CRANKSHAFT OIL SEAL RETAINER


    1. Install a new gasket and the rear crankshaft oil seal retainer with the 4 bolts.

      Torque:
      13 N*m  { 133 kgf*cm, 10 ft.*lbf }

  3. INSTALL FRONT CRANKSHAFT OIL SEAL

  4. INSTALL TIMING BELT CASE SUB-ASSEMBLY

  5. INSTALL OIL STRAINER SUB-ASSEMBLY

  6. INSTALL OIL PAN SUB-ASSEMBLY

  7. INSTALL NO. 1 TIMING BELT IDLER SUB-ASSEMBLY

  8. INSTALL ENGINE WATER PUMP ASSEMBLY

  9. INSTALL NO. 2 TIMING BELT IDLER SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. Install the spacer and No. 2 timing belt idler sub-assembly with the bolt.

      Torque:
      33 N*m  { 337 kgf*cm, 24 ft.*lbf }

    2. Check that the No. 2 timing belt idler sub-assembly moves smoothly.

  10. INSTALL CYLINDER HEAD GASKET

  15. INSTALL CYLINDER HEAD COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. Clean and degrease the contact surfaces of the cylinder head cover sub-assembly and cylinder head sub-assembly.

      *a Seal Packing

      Apply seal packing to the specific areas shown in the illustration.

      Seal packing
      Toyota Genuine Seal Packing Black, Three Bond 1207B or equivalent

      Note


      • Remove any oil from the contact surface.

      • Install the cylinder head cover sub-assembly within 3 minutes after applying seal packing.

      • Do not start the engine for at least 2 hours after installing the seal packing.

    3. Install a new cylinder head cover gasket and the cylinder head cover sub-assembly to the cylinder head sub-assembly with the 9 bolts and nut.

      Torque:
      12 N*m  { 122 kgf*cm, 9 ft.*lbf }

  16. INSTALL OIL FILLER CAP SUB-ASSEMBLY

  17. INSTALL NO. 2 TIMING BELT COVER

  18. INSTALL CAMSHAFT TIMING PULLEY
