PROCEDURE
REMOVE VALVE STEM CAP
Remove the 16 valve stem caps from the cylinder head sub-assembly.
Tech Tips
Arrange the removed parts in the correct order.
REMOVE INTAKE VALVE
Using SST and wooden blocks, compress the valve compression spring and remove the valve spring retainer locks from the valve spring retainer.
Remove the valve spring retainer, valve compression spring and intake valve from the cylinder head sub-assembly.

REMOVE EXHAUST VALVE
Using SST and wooden blocks, compress the valve compression spring and remove the valve spring retainer locks from the valve spring retainer.
Remove the valve spring retainer, valve compression spring and exhaust valve from the cylinder head sub-assembly.

Arrange the removed parts in the correct order.
REMOVE VALVE STEM OIL SEAL
Using needle-nose pliers, remove the valve stem oil seals from the valve guide bush.
REMOVE VALVE SPRING SEAT
Using compressed air and a magnet hand, remove the valve spring seat from the cylinder head sub-assembly by blowing air onto it.
REMOVE NO. 1 STRAIGHT SCREW PLUG WITH HEAD
Using a 6 mm hexagon wrench, remove the 4 No. 1 straight screw plug with heads from the cylinder head sub-assembly.
REMOVE STUD BOLT
Note
If a stud bolt is deformed or its threads are damaged, replace it.
