PROCEDURE
INSTALL FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY
Install the front exhaust pipe assembly to the No. 1 exhaust pipe support.
Install a new gasket.
Note
Do not reuse the gaskets.
Connect the front exhaust pipe assembly to the exhaust manifold sub-assembly RH with the 2 new nuts.
INSTALL HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (for Bank 1 Sensor 2)
INSTALL HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (for Bank 2 Sensor 2)
INSTALL FRONT NO. 2 EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY
Install the front No. 2 exhaust pipe assembly to the No. 1 exhaust pipe support.
Install 2 new gaskets.
Note
Do not reuse the gaskets.
Connect the front No. 2 exhaust pipe assembly to the exhaust manifold sub-assembly LH with the 2 new nuts.
Connect the front No. 2 exhaust pipe assembly to the front exhaust pipe assembly with the 2 bolts and 2 new nuts.
Connect the heated oxygen sensor connector.
Attach the 2 clamps.
INSTALL CENTER EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY
Using a vernier caliper, measure the free length of the compression spring.

| 40 mm (1.57 in.) |
If the free length is less than the minimum, replace the compression spring.
Using a wire brush, remove any foreign matter from the gasket installation surface.

Using a plastic-faced hammer and wooden block, tap on a new gasket until its surface is flush with front exhaust pipe assembly.
Note
Be sure to install the gasket so that it faces the correct direction.
Do not reuse the gasket.
Do not damage the gasket.
When connecting the tail exhaust pipe assembly, do not push in the gasket with the tail exhaust pipe assembly.
Install the center exhaust pipe assembly to the 3 No. 1 exhaust pipe supports.
Install a new gasket and the center exhaust pipe assembly to the front exhaust pipe assembly with the 2 compressionspring and 2 bolts. Alternately tighten the bolts in several passes.
INSTALL TAIL EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY
Install the tail exhaust pipe assembly to the No. 2 exhaust pipe support.
Install a new gasket and the tail exhaust pipe assembly to the center exhaust pipe assembly with the 2 bolts and 2 new nuts. Alternately tighten the bolts in several passes.
Note
Do not reuse the gasket.
