DESCRIPTION

The manifold absolute pressure sensor generates voltage by the vacuum value as shown in the illustration. This voltage of the manifold absolute pressure sensor is one of the factors used to decide the injection volume and injection timing.

Tech Tips

Read freeze frame data using the GTS. Freeze frame data records the engine condition when malfunctions are detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.

PROCEDURE


  1. READ VALUE USING GTS (MAF)


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the GTS on.

    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List / MAP.


      Powertrain > Engine and ECT > Data List
      Tester Display
      MAP
    4. Read the value.

      OK
      The same as atmospheric pressure.

      Tech Tips

      Standard atmospheric pressure is 101 kPa. For every 100 m increase in elevation, pressure drops by 1 kPa. This varies by weather (high atmospheric pressure, low atmospheric pressure).

  2. CHECK CONNECTION OF VACUUM HOSE


    1. Check that the vacuum hose is securely connected and there are no leaks from the connection.

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ECM - MANIFOLD ABSOLUTE PRESSURE SENSOR)


    1. Disconnect the manifold absolute pressure sensor connector.

    2. Disconnect the ECM connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      C53-2 (PIM) - C175-33 (PIM) Always Below 1 Ω
      C53-3 (VC) - C175-24 (VCPM) Always Below 1 Ω

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

  5. REPLACE MANIFOLD ABSOLUTE PRESSURE SENSOR


    1. Replace the manifold absolute pressure sensor.

  6. CHECK DTC OUTPUT


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the GTS on.

    3. Clear the DTC.


      Powertrain > Engine and ECT > Clear DTCs
    4. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    5. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.


      Powertrain > Engine and ECT > Trouble Codes
    6. Check the DTC.
