Tech Tips

Perform these procedures after the engine has cooled down.

PROCEDURE


  1. INSPECT DRIVE BELT

  2. REPLACE ENGINE OIL AND OIL FILTER

  3. INSPECT COOLING AND HEATER SYSTEM


    1. Check that the radiator, condenser and/or intercooler is not blocked with leaves, dirt or insects, and clean them if necessary. Also check the hose connection for the installation condition, corrosion, etc.

  4. INSPECT ENGINE COOLANT

  5. REPLACE ENGINE COOLANT

  6. INSPECT EXHAUST PIPES AND MOUNTINGS


    1. Visually check the pipes, hangers and connections for severe corrosion, leaks or damage.

  7. INSPECT BATTERY ELECTROLYTE LEVEL

  8. INSPECT WATER SEDIMENT ACCUMULATOR

  9. INSPECT AIR CLEANER FILTER


    1. Remove the air cleaner filter.

      Note

      Do not start the engine with the air cleaner filter removed, as this may damage the engine.

    2. Visually check that the air cleaner filter is not excessively damaged or oily. If necessary, replace the air cleaner filter with a new one.

    3. If cleaning an air cleaner filter element, blow compressed air to clean it.

      Note

      When using an air cleaner filter that uses compressed air, wear safety glasses and a dust mask in order to protect your health.

      Tech Tips

      When an excessive amount of dirt is present, replace the air cleaner filter element.

    4. Reinstall the air cleaner filter.

  10. INSPECT FUEL TANK CAP GASKET

  11. INSPECT FUEL LINES, FUEL LINE CONNECTIONS, FUEL TANK VAPOR VENT SYSTEM HOSES AND FUEL TANK BAND


    1. Visually check the fuel lines and hoses for cracks, leakage, loose connections and deformation. Also, visually check the tank band for looseness.
