PROCEDURE


  1. INSTALL STARTER ARMATURE ASSEMBLY


    1. A01SBQ9

      Using a press, press in the starter armature assembly.

  2. INSTALL STARTER BRUSH HOLDER ASSEMBLY


    1. A01SEWS

      Align the claw of the starter brush holder assembly with the claw groove of the starter yoke assembly.

    2. A01SEFZ

      Install the 4 starter brushes to the starter brush holder assembly.


      1. Using a screwdriver, pull back the spring.

      2. Install the starter brush to the starter brush holder assembly.

        Note

        Check that the positive (+) lead wires are not grounded.

  3. INSTALL MAGNET STARTER SWITCH ASSEMBLY


    1. Apply high-temperature grease to the starter idler pinion, starter armature pinion, steel ball, return spring, clutch roller and retainer.

    2. A01SBRH

      Install the steel ball to the hole of the starter clutch sub-assembly.

    3. Insert the return spring into the hole of the starter clutch sub-assembly.

    4. Install the clutch roller, retainer, starter idler pinion, starter armature pinion and starter clutch sub-assembly to the starter drive housing.

    5. Install the magnet starter switch assembly to the starter drive housing with the 2 screws.

      Torque:
      9.3 N*m  { 95 kgf*cm, 82 in.*lbf }

  4. INSTALL STARTER YOKE ASSEMBLY


    1. Install the 2 new O-rings to the 2 bolts.

    2. Install a new O-ring to the groove of the starter yoke assembly.

      *a Claw
      *b Punch Mark
      *c Line

      Align the claws of the starter brush holder assembly with the grooves of the magnet starter switch assembly.

    4. Install the starter yoke assembly with the starter armature assembly.

    5. Align the punch mark of the starter yoke assembly with the line of the magnet starter switch assembly.

    6. Install the 2 bolts.

      Torque:
      12.7 N*m  { 130 kgf*cm, 9 ft.*lbf }

    7. Connect the lead wire to terminal C with the nut.

      Torque:
      5.9 N*m  { 60 kgf*cm, 52 in.*lbf }

  5. INSTALL STARTER LEAD WIRE


    1. Install the starter lead wire with the screw.

      Torque:
      3.6 N*m  { 37 kgf*cm, 32 in.*lbf }
