CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT
CAUTION:
Do not remove the radiator cap sub-assembly, cylinder block drain cock plugs or radiator drain cock plug while the engine and radiator assembly are still hot. Pressurized, hot engine coolant and steam may be released and cause serious burns.
PROCEDURE
REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER ASSEMBLY (for 4WD and Pre-Runner)
DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT
DISCONNECT RADIATOR HOSE OUTLET
Slide the hose clamp and disconnect the radiator hose outlet from the water inlet sub-assembly with thermostat.
REMOVE WATER INLET SUB-ASSEMBLY WITH THERMOSTAT
Remove the 3 nuts, water inlet sub-assembly with thermostat and gasket from the water inlet assembly.
Tech Tips
If the thermostat was not installed, cooling efficiency would be harmed. Even if the engine tends to overheat, do not remove the thermostat.
