PROCEDURE


  1. REMOVE INTAKE VALVE


    1. A01L7ZTN01

      Using SST and wooden blocks, compress the inner compression spring and remove the valve spring retainer locks.

    2. Remove the retainer, inner compression spring and intake valve.

      Tech Tips

      Arrange the removed parts in the correct order.

  2. REMOVE EXHAUST VALVE

      Using SST and wooden blocks, compress the inner compression spring and remove the valve spring retainer locks.

    2. Remove the retainer, inner compression spring and exhaust valve.

      Tech Tips

      Arrange the removed parts in the correct order.

  3. REMOVE VALVE STEM OIL SEAL


    1. Using needle-nose pliers, remove the 16 valve stem oil seals.

  4. REMOVE VALVE SPRING SEAT


    1. Remove the 16 valve spring seats from the cylinder head sub-assembly.

  5. REMOVE NO. 1 HEAD STRAIGHT SCREW PLUG

    Note

    If coolant leaks from the No. 1 head straight screw plug or the plug is corroded, replace it.

    1. Using a 10 mm hexagon wrench, remove the 3 No. 1 head straight screw plugs and 3 gaskets.

  6. REMOVE NO. 2 HEAD STRAIGHT SCREW PLUG

    Note

    If coolant leaks from the No. 2 head straight screw plug or the plug is corroded, replace it.

    1. Using a 19 mm hexagon wrench, remove the No. 2 head straight screw plug and gasket.

  7. REMOVE STUD BOLT

    Note

    If a stud bolt is deformed or its threads are damaged, replace it.
