PROCEDURE

1. INSTALL CAMSHAFT

   
   

   1. 

      *a	Timing Mark
      *b	Protrusion

      Check that the timing mark of the crankshaft timing pulley is in the position shown in the illustration.

   2. Install the camshaft.

      
      

      1. Apply engine oil to the thrust portion of the camshaft.

      2. 

         *a	Upward
         *b	Timing Pulley Woodruff Key Groove

         Place the camshaft on the cylinder head sub-assembly with the timing pulley woodruff key groove facing upward.

   3. 

      Install the 5 camshaft bearing caps to their proper locations from the cylinder head sub-assembly.

   4. 

      Apply a light coat of engine oil to the threads and under the heads of the camshaft bearing cap bolts.

   5. Install and uniformly tighten the 10 camshaft bearing cap bolts in several steps in the sequence shown in the illustration.

      Torque:

      25 N*m  { 255 kgf*cm, 18 ft.*lbf }

2. INSTALL CAMSHAFT OIL SEAL

   
   

   1. Apply MP grease to the lip of the new camshaft oil seal.

   2. 

      Using SST and a hammer, tap in a camshaft oil seal until its surface is flush with the camshaft oil seal retainer edge.

3. INSTALL CAMSHAFT OIL SEAL RETAINER

   
   

   1. Install a new gasket and the camshaft oil seal retainer with the 4 bolts.

      Torque:

      18 N*m  { 184 kgf*cm, 13 ft.*lbf }

4. INSTALL NO. 2 TIMING BELT COVER

   
   

   1. Install the No. 2 timing belt cover with the 4 bolts.

      Torque:

      18 N*m  { 184 kgf*cm, 13 ft.*lbf }

5. INSTALL CAMSHAFT TIMING PULLEY

   
   

   1. Install the timing pulley woodruff key to the timing pulley woodruff key groove of the camshaft.

   2. 

      *a	Timing Mark

      Align the timing mark on the camshaft timing pulley with the timing mark on the No. 2 timing belt cover and temporarily install the camshaft timing pulley with the bolt.

   3. 

      Using SST, tighten the bolt.

      SST

      09960-10010   ( 09962-01000, 09963-01000 )

      Torque:

      98 N*m  { 999 kgf*cm, 72 ft.*lbf }

6. INSPECT VALVE CLEARANCE

7. ADJUST VALVE CLEARANCE

8. INSTALL CYLINDER HEAD COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

9. INSTALL INTAKE PIPE

   Click here

10. CONNECT WIRE HARNESS

    
    

    1. Attach the 3 wire harness clamps.

11. ADD ENGINE OIL

12. INSTALL TIMING BELT

    Click here

13. INSPECT FOR ENGINE OIL LEAK
