PROCEDURE


  1. REMOVE VALVE LIFTER


    1. Remove the valve lifter and valve adjusting shim.

      Tech Tips

      Arrange the valve lifters and valve adjusting shims in the correct order.

  2. REMOVE INTAKE VALVE


    1. A01SBQSE03

      Using SST, compress the inner compression spring and remove the 2 valve spring retainer locks.

    2. Remove the valve spring retainer, inner compression spring, valve and valve spring seat plate washer from the cylinder head sub-assembly.

      Tech Tips

      Arrange the valves, inner compression springs, valve spring seat plate washers and valve spring retainers in the correct order.

  3. REMOVE EXHAUST VALVE


    1. A01SCB7E03

      Using SST, compress the inner compression spring and remove the 2 valve spring retainer locks.

    2. Remove the valve spring retainer, inner compression spring, valve and valve spring seat plate washer from the cylinder head sub-assembly.

      Tech Tips

      Arrange the valves, inner compression springs, valve spring seat plate washers and valve spring retainers in the correct order.

  4. REMOVE VALVE STEM OIL SEAL


    1. A01SCX4

      Using needle-nose pliers, remove the valve stem oil seal from the valve guide bush.

  5. REMOVE COMBUSTION CHAMBER SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. A01SBGLE03

      Using SST, remove the 4 combustion chamber sub-assemblies.

      Tech Tips

      Arrange the combustion chamber sub-assemblies in the correct order.

  6. REMOVE SEMICIRCULAR PLUG


    1. Remove the semicircular plug from the cylinder head sub-assembly.

  7. REMOVE STUD BOLT

    Tech Tips

    If a stud bolt is deformed or its threads are damaged, replace it.


    1. Remove the stud bolts from the cylinder head sub-assembly.
