WIPER SWITCH ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

PROCEDURE


  1. INSPECT WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSEMBLY (for LHD)


    1. Check the front washer operation.

        Component with harness connected

        (Windshield Wiper Switch Assembly)

        Connect a voltmeter positive (+) lead to terminal G115-7 (WF) and a negative (-) lead to terminal G115-4 (EW).

      2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

      3. Turn the front washer switch on and off, and check the voltage between terminals G115-7 (WF) and G115-4 (EW).

        OK
        Voltage changes as shown in the following illustration.

        If the result is not as specified, replace the windshield wiper switch assembly.

    2. Check the rear washer operation.

        Component with harness connected

        (Windshield Wiper Switch Assembly)

        Connect a voltmeter positive (+) lead to terminal G114-5 (WR) and a negative (-) lead to terminal G115-4 (EW).

      2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

      3. Turn the rear washer switch on and off, and check the voltage between terminals G114-5 (WR) and G115-4 (EW).

        OK
        Voltage changes as shown in the following illustration.

        If the result is not as specified, replace the windshield wiper switch assembly.

  2. INSPECT WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSEMBLY (for RHD, w/o Rain Sensor)


    1. Check the front wiper intermittent operation.

        (Windshield Wiper Switch Assembly)

        Connect a voltmeter positive (+) lead to terminal G6-2 (+1) and a negative (-) lead to terminal G7-7 (EW).

      2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

      3. Turn the wiper switch to the INT position.

      4. Operate the intermittent wiper and check the voltage between terminals G6-2 (+1) and G7-7 (EW).

        OK
        Voltage changes as shown in the illustration.

        If the result is not as specified, replace the windshield wiper switch assembly.

  3. INSPECT WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSEMBLY (for RHD)


    1. Check the front washer operation.

        Component with harness connected

        (Windshield Wiper Switch Assembly)

        Connect a voltmeter positive (+) lead to terminal G7-4 (WF) and a negative (-) lead to terminal G7-7 (EW).

      2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

      3. Turn the front washer switch on and off, and check the voltage between terminals G7-4 (WF) and G7-7 (EW).

        OK
        Voltage changes as shown in the following illustration.

        If the result is not as specified, replace the windshield wiper switch assembly.

    2. Check the rear washer operation.

        (Windshield Wiper Switch Assembly)

        Connect a voltmeter positive (+) lead to terminal G6-10 (WR) and a negative (-) lead to terminal G7-7 (EW).

      2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

      3. Turn the rear washer switch on and off, and check the voltage between terminals G6-10 (WR) and G7-7 (EW).

        OK
        Voltage changes as shown in the following illustration.

        If the result is not as specified, replace the windshield wiper switch assembly.
