FRONT WIPER MOTOR(for LHD) INSTALLATION

PROCEDURE


  1. INSTALL WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR ASSEMBLY


    1. A01IGS4

      Install the windshield wiper motor assembly to the windshield wiper link assembly with the 3 bolts.

      Torque:
      5.4 N*m  { 55 kgf*cm, 48 in.*lbf }

    2. Attach the clamp.

  2. INSTALL FRONT WIPER CRANK SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. Attach the motor grommet to temporarily install the windshield wiper motor and link assembly with the 3 bolts.

    2. Connect the windshield wiper motor assembly connector.

    3. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

    4. Operate the wiper switch and stop the windshield wiper motor assembly at the automatic stop (park) position.

    5. Turn the engine switch off.

    6. Disconnect the windshield wiper motor assembly connector.

    7. Remove the 3 bolts.

    8. Detach the motor grommet and remove the windshield wiper motor and link assembly.

    9. Temporarily install the windshield wiper motor crank to the windshield wiper motor assembly with the nut.

    10. Temporarily place the No. 1 windshield wiper link rod in the front wiper crank sub-assembly crank arm pivot.

    11. Align the windshield wiper motor assembly shaft and crank arm pivot with the No. 1 windshield wiper link rod in a straight line as shown in the illustration.

      Using a screwdriver, hold the windshield wiper motor crank as shown in the illustration.

      Tech Tips

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

    13. Tighten the nut.

      Torque:
      8.5 N*m  { 87 kgf*cm, 75 in.*lbf }

      Apply MP grease to the front wiper crank sub-assembly crank arm pivot.

      Connect the No. 1 windshield wiper link rod to the front wiper crank sub-assembly.

  3. INSTALL WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR AND LINK ASSEMBLY

    Note

    Be careful not to damage the windshield when installing the windshield wiper motor and link assembly.

      Attach the motor grommet to temporarily install the windshield wiper motor and link assembly as shown in the illustration.

    2. Install the windshield wiper motor and link assembly with the 3 bolts in the order indicated in the illustration.

      Torque:
      5.5 N*m  { 56 kgf*cm, 49 in.*lbf }

    3. Connect the connector.

  4. INSTALL COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

      Push the cowl top ventilator louver sub-assembly as shown in the illustration to attach the guide.

      Attach the claw and install the cowl top ventilator louver sub-assembly.

    3. A01IHP1

      Install the 2 clips.

  5. INSTALL COWL WATER EXTRACT SHIELD LH

      Attach the guide as shown in the illustration.

      Attach the claw and install the cowl water extract shield LH as shown in the illustration.

  6. INSTALL COWL WATER EXTRACT SHIELD RH

    Tech Tips

    Use the same procedure for the LH side.

  7. INSTALL FRONT WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY RH


    1. When reinstalling:

      Note

      Do not grind the serrations excessively.

        *b Wiper Pivot Serrations

        Clean the wiper arm serrations.

      2. Clean the wiper pivot serrations.

    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

    3. Operate the wiper switch and stop the windshield wiper motor assembly at the automatic stop (park) position.

    4. Turn the engine switch off.

      *a Louver Lip Edge
      *b 25.7 to 50.7 mm (1.0118 to 1.9961 in.)

      Align the front wiper arm and blade assembly RH as shown in the illustration and install it with the nut.

      Torque:
      25.5 N*m  { 260 kgf*cm, 19 ft.*lbf }

      Tech Tips

      Hold the arm hinge by hand when tightening the nut.

    6. Operate the front wipers while spraying washer fluid on the glass. Make sure that the front wipers function properly and the wipers do not come into contact with the vehicle body.

    7. Raise the wiper arm 2 times and check that the tip of the front wiper blade is at the position shown in the illustration.

  8. INSTALL FRONT WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY LH


    1. When reinstalling:

      Note

      Do not grind the serrations excessively.

        Clean the wiper arm serrations.

      2. Clean the wiper pivot serrations.

    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

    3. Operate the wiper switch and stop the windshield wiper motor assembly at the automatic stop (park) position.

    4. Turn the engine switch off.

      *a Louver Lip Edge
      *b 61.6 to 81.6 mm (2.4252 to 3.2126 in.)

      Align the front wiper arm and blade assembly LH as shown in the illustration and install it with the nut.

      Torque:
      25.5 N*m  { 260 kgf*cm, 19 ft.*lbf }

      Tech Tips

      Hold the arm hinge by hand when tightening the nut.

    6. Operate the front wipers while spraying washer fluid on the glass. Make sure that the front wipers function properly and the wipers do not come into contact with the vehicle body.

    7. Raise the wiper arm 2 times and check that the tip of the front wiper blade is at the position shown in the illustration.

  9. INSTALL WINDSHIELD WIPER ARM COVER

      Attach the claw to install the windshield wiper arm cover.

      Tech Tips

      Use the same procedure for both windshield wiper arm covers.
