POWER BACK DOOR SYSTEM Jam Protection Function Activates During Power Back Door Operation

DESCRIPTION

When the jam protection function activates during power back door operation, one of the following may be the cause: 1) improper fit of back door, or a foreign object is stuck in the back door, 2) malfunctioning power back door sensor assembly circuit or 3) malfunctioning back door motor unit.

Note

If the replacement, removal and installation of the back door motor unit or disconnection of the connectors of the back door motor unit has been performed, initialize the power back door system.

  1. CHECK POWER BACK DOOR SYSTEM


    1. Check if there are any foreign objects interfering with back door operation.

  2. CHECK BACK DOOR OPERATION


    1. Check back door operation.


      1. Turn the power slide door main switch so that it is not pushed.

      2. Open/close the back door by hand.

  3. READ VALUE USING GTS


    1. Check the Data List to determine if the power back door sensor assembly functions properly.

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER BACK DOOR SENSOR ASSEMBLY RH - BACK DOOR MOTOR UNIT)


    1. Disconnect the U5 power back door sensor assembly RH connector.

    2. Disconnect the K22 back door motor unit connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      U5-1 (OSR) - K22-13 (OSR) Always Below 1 Ω
      U5-2 (OSRE) - K22-14 (OSE) Always Below 1 Ω
      U5-1 (OSR) or K22-13 (OSR) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      U5-2 (OSRE) or K22-14 (OSE) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER BACK DOOR SENSOR ASSEMBLY LH - BACK DOOR MOTOR UNIT)


    1. Disconnect the U13 power back door sensor assembly LH connector.

    2. Disconnect the K22 back door motor unit connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      U13-1 (OSL) - K22-15 (OSL) Always Below 1 Ω
      U13-2 (OSLE) - K22-14 (OSE) Always Below 1 Ω
