SLIDING ROOF SYSTEM INITIALIZATION

Note

  • When the roof glass is adjusted or removed/installed, or the sliding roof drive gear assembly is replaced, the glass position cannot be determined and the sliding roof drive gear assembly must be initialized (pulse sensor initial position setting). If initialization is not performed, the auto function, jam protection function, key-off operation, wireless transmitter-linked operation, key-linked function and open warning function may not operate, or the sliding roof may become misaligned.

  • During initialization, do not apply a physical shock, such as opening/closing a door or driving the vehicle at 5 km/h or more, to the vehicle and do not perform any electrical operations.

  • During initialization, do not turn off the engine switch.

  • During initialization, do not operate the other switch operation.

  • If the negative battery terminal is disconnected under the following conditions, initialization of the sliding roof drive gear assembly may not be completed.

    • Engine cranking up

    • Within 2 seconds after roof glass operation stops.

    • Within 10 seconds after the engine switch is turned off.

    • Power window operation

    • Window defogger switch operation

    • Blower switch operation

    • Power seat switch operation

    • Door lock/unlock operation

    • Headlight switch operation

Tech Tips

  • The slide roof switch is positioned in the map light assembly and integration control and panel assembly.

  • Check for the following sliding roof conditions and perform initialization.

    • Auto function does not operate (manual function operates)

    • Automatically moves, but the sliding roof glass moves in the reverse direction during slide close operation

    • Sliding roof does not fully close due to misalignment, etc.

  1. AUTOMATIC INITIALIZATION

    Note

    • Do not allow anything to become caught in the sliding roof by accident while performing this initialization. The roof glass only operates in a certain direction (does not reverse direction) until a slide close operation is performed once.

    • If the switch operation sequence (OPEN → CLOSE → CLOSE) is performed incorrectly, automatic initialization will not be performed. Perform the manual initialization procedure.

    • If the sliding roof switch is operated while the battery is connected, automatic initialization will not be performed. Perform the manual initialization procedure.

    1. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

    2. Perform the following switch operations within 2 seconds: OPEN → CLOSE → CLOSE.

      1. The roof glass moves to the fully closed position.

      2. The roof glass moves to the fully open position.

      3. The roof glass moves to the fully closed position again.

    3. Initialization completes.

    4. Make sure that the sliding roof auto function operates normally.

  2. MANUAL INITIALIZATION

    Note

    • Press and hold the close switch until the roof glass stops at the fully closed position and initialization completes. If the switch is released partway, perform the procedure again from the first step.

    • Do not allow anything to become caught in the sliding roof by accident while performing this initialization. The roof glass only operates in a certain direction (does not reverse direction) until a slide close operation is performed once.

    1. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

    2. Hold the close switch until the following operations are completed.

      1. The roof glass moves to the fully closed position.

      2. The roof glass moves to the fully open position.

      3. The roof glass moves to the fully closed position again.

    3. Initialization completes.

    4. Make sure that the sliding roof auto function operates normally.

  3. CANCEL INITIALIZATION

    1. When the sliding roof glass is fully closed, press and hold the CLOSE switch for 10 seconds or more.

      Tech Tips

Perform the manual initialization to activate the sliding roof system functions.
