CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT
The necessary procedures (adjustment, calibration, initialization or registration) that must be performed after parts are installed, removed or replaced during the front seat airbag assembly removal/installation are shown below.

CAUTION:
Wear protective gloves. Sharp areas on the parts may injure your hands.
There is risk of injury.
If the front seat side airbag was deployed, replace the front seat airbag assembly, separate type front seatback frame sub-assembly, separate type front seatback cover and separate type front seatback pad with the necessary parts in accordance with the extent of the collision damage.
Replace any other damaged parts as necessary.

Use the same procedure for the RH and LH sides.
The procedure listed below is for the RH side.

Note
After turning the engine switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal notice before proceeding with work.
DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
If the airbag deploys for any reason, it may cause a serious accident.
Note
When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

CAUTION:
When storing the front seat airbag assembly RH, keep the airbag deployment side facing upward.
If the airbag deploys for any reason, it may cause a serious accident.

Disconnect in this Direction |
Disconnect the airbag connector.
Note
When disconnecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

Slide in this Direction |
Push down the housing lock and slide the CPA. (At this time, the airbag connector cannot be disconnected yet.)
Push down the housing lock again and disconnect the airbag connector.
Note
Do not push down the upper part of the CPA shown in the illustration when disconnecting the airbag connector.
Detach the wire harness clamp.
Detach the claw and disconnect the airbag connector.
Detach the wire harness clamp.

Detach the fastener and wire harness clamp.
Remove the 2 nuts and front seat airbag assembly RH.
Note
The nuts must not be reused.
Make sure that the separate type front seatback frame sub-assembly is not deformed. If it is, replace it with a new one.
