CURTAIN SHIELD AIRBAG ASSEMBLY REMOVAL

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

The necessary procedures (adjustment, calibration, initialization or registration) that must be performed after parts are installed, removed or replaced during the curtain shield airbag assembly removal/installation are shown below.

    Note

    After turning the engine switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal notice before proceeding with work.

  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    CAUTION:


    • Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    • If the airbag deploys for any reason, it may cause a serious accident.

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

  4. REMOVE CURTAIN SHIELD AIRBAG ASSEMBLY LH

    CAUTION:

    • When storing the curtain shield airbag assembly LH, keep the airbag deployment side facing upward.

    • If the airbag deploys for any reason, it may cause a serious accident.


    1. Check that the engine switch is off.

    2. Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.

      CAUTION:


      • Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

      • If the airbag deploys for any reason, it may cause a serious accident.

    3. Using a screwdriver, pull up the connector lock and disconnect the 2 airbag connectors.

      Note

      When disconnecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

      Tech Tips

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

    4. Using needle-nose pliers, release the lock by pinching the 2 locks of the pin, and then pull out the pin from the clip.

      Note

      The pin must not be reused.

      Tech Tips

      Use the same procedure for the other pin.

    5. Using 2 screwdrivers, detach the clip by inserting the screwdrivers into the groove of the clip as shown in the illustration, and then remove the clip from the vehicle body.

    6. Remove the 6 bolts.

      Note

      The bolts must not be reused.

    7. Detach the clip and remove the curtain shield airbag assembly LH.
