FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY REMOVAL

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

The necessary procedures (adjustment, calibration, initialization or registration) that must be performed after parts are installed, removed or replaced during the instrument panel passenger airbag assembly removal/installation are shown below.

    Be sure to read Precaution thoroughly before servicing.

    Note

    After turning the engine switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.

  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    CAUTION:


    • Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    • If the airbag deploys for any reason, it may cause a serious accident.

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

  3. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY

  4. REMOVE NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE


    1. Using a screwdriver, pull up and release the connector lock and disconnect the airbag connector.

      Tech Tips

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

      Detach the wire harness clamp and remove the No. 2 instrument panel wire.

      Note

      When disconnecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

  5. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY

    CAUTION:

    • When storing the instrument panel passenger airbag assembly, keep the airbag deployment side facing upward.

    • If the airbag deploys for any reason, it may cause a serious accident.

      B006N8A Disconnect in this Direction

      Detach the hook and disconnect the pad.

    2. B006PXZ

      Remove the 2 screws.

    3. Insert moulding remover B into the side of the airbag door facing the rear of the vehicle and bend moulding remover B to detach the hook.

      B006N8A Raise in this Direction

      Raise the instrument panel passenger airbag assembly in the direction indicated by the arrow shown in the illustration to detach the hook on the side of the airbag door facing the front of the vehicle and remove the instrument panel passenger airbag assembly.
