DESCRIPTION

The No. 2 side airbag sensor assembly LH or RH consists of a lateral deceleration sensor, etc.

If the airbag ECU assembly receives signals from the lateral deceleration sensor, it determines whether the SRS should be activated.

  • DTC B1657/95 is stored when a malfunction is detected in the No. 2 side airbag sensor assembly RH circuit.

  • DTC B1672/96 is stored when a malfunction is detected in the No. 2 side airbag sensor assembly LH circuit.

Note


  • After turning the engine switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK DTC


    1. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

    2. Clear the DTCs stored in memory.

      Click here


      Body Electrical > SRS Airbag > Clear DTCs

    3. Turn the engine switch off.

    4. Turn the engine switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.

    5. Check for DTCs.

      Body Electrical > SRS Airbag > Trouble Codes
      Result
      Proceed to
      DTC B1657/95 is output
      DTC B1672/96 is output
      DTC B1657/95 and B1672/96 are not output

      Codes other than DTC B1657/95 and B1672/96 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

  2. CHECK NO. 2 SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY RH


    1. B006P0FC21
      *1 No. 2 Side Airbag Sensor Assembly LH
      *2 Rear Airbag Sensor RH

      Turn the engine switch off.

    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

    3. Interchange the No. 2 side airbag sensor assembly RH and LH, and connect the connectors to them.

    4. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.

    5. Turn the engine switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.

    6. Clear the DTCs stored in memory.

    7. Turn the engine switch off.

    8. Turn the engine switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.

    9. Check for DTCs.

      DTC B1672/96 is output
      DTC B1657/95 and B1672/96 are not output

    10. Turn the engine switch off.

    11. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

    12. Return the No. 2 side airbag sensor assembly LH and RH to their original positions and connect the connectors to them.


    DTC B1657/95 is output
